I got it, and will play in a bit.

Read the books and found another, Disarm traps. Explored I1
fully, and descended at ~600 turns. Put all skill increases
into literacy, find weakness, healing, and concentration. For
the talents, we can't persue the PV line, because our To is
too low. I went the way of missiles instead.

Oh man... When I first generated the char I thought "Wow, nice - about the only thing that could kill this guy early is a stone block trap".

You have no idea how much I prayed for that to happen to you, gut ;P RNG gods, I thank you once more for you reward. I am, as ever, your humble servant...

In truth though, honest commiserations. I was worried that someone might share riktikiticheck's fate of dying from unavoidable misfortunate at the start, but there's really not much that could be changed in the rules to avoid this - bad luck can happen to anyone at any time. ADOM is the most cruel of mistresses...

Damn you have to admire the sheer bitchiness of the RNG in the ID... I think the highest level elf I had die from a stone block there whilst at full HP was at at PC level 7 - Ive had on wizard who started off with 2 To points though, 8 is huge....

Shame gut is out so early though...

THis bad luck happened to gut because he didn't bother to rename the PC... but Enlir Ovaor?? Ovaor is probably the elvish equivalent of 'Eggeater'! :rolleyes:

Great we have the Divine Key spell to save us from those door traps, which destroy often the most precious equipment!

2025-3066........I'll only report notable things. I prayed 200 times.
I read once the sp of Divine Key. Killed some random
monsters including a doppleganger, an eye of
destruction and a large kobold with ease. Bookcasting
Divine Wrath a lot. Farmed loot and corpses by letting
a wererat summon. They dropped some rat corpses and
some junk. Found a blesssed bandage. Ran out of food.
Let another wererat summon. Result: An unided flail, 2
giant rat corpses and a large ration. Got Thrown Rocks
to level 2 at some point.
3066-4006........Presumably a Dark elven wizard summoned spiders. Killed
them and the wizard with Divine Wrath. A flail and a
cave fisher corpse dropped. Forgot the corpse and it
rot away. Level-up. 1xDetect Item Status, 1xFirst Aid,
1xHealing(now at 100). Good Shot. Ran out of food.
Killed some random monsters, including a ratling duelist
and a karmic lizard. I botched the fight against the lizard. I
was only thinking the possible item destruction and accidently
meleed it to death in darkness, cursing us. Still no food.
Got an orcish spear from an orc scorcher. Descended and
found myself in the middle of a river.

Hey Nezur! Corrupt tactics isn't allowed yet, remember! What do you mean you were only thinking about possible item destruction and 'accidentally' meleed it to death? How can a lizard destroy equipment? And they see in the dark too! If you hit it many times we might even have become doomed, but I don't think so, since I did not notice any extreme bad luck.
Cursing is not so terrible, it may even pay off with more xps given the increased monster generation. The bad thing, however, is the increased food consumption, which can be troublesome, as Grey pointed out, since we don't have Food Preservation. Plus, cursing makes nasty armor damage occur more often - just think about our precious elven chain mail!
I was also rather shocked at the news that a dark elven wizard and karmic lizard were spawned at mere ID level 2!!:eek:

################The Report#####################

The first thing I decided to do was drop any junk to alleviate the burden. With no food I couldn't afford any extra fatigue. A mace, flail, some crude knives and clean robes were left behind.

At 1033 turns hunger strikes! I ventured on to find some groceries, luckilly the stairs were in the next room to the west. The available rooms on my side of the river were empty, so I climbed down to ID 4. At 4174 turns I was starving, I had to pray for divine ma(n)na.

Exploring the level, I finally foud a goblin rockthrower corpse and ate it. I noticed a +1 Strength at some point. A booby trap on a door destroyed the hooded cloak, some leather boots and a potion of water. I did not even kick, just tried to open the door! From that moment on I decided to cast Divine Key on any closed door, just to be sure. I recommend the next players to do the same; with our cursed status I doesn't take much to set off a trap!

I learned a little more from the spellbooks. Darkness, Light and Divine Key disappeared. With only a loaf of bread in stock, I couldn't just hang around. Went downstairs to ID 5. Nothing worth mentioning happened on that level so I dived to ID 6.

Finally, I found 2 large rations! We have now safety, food issues concerned. Still I didn't want to be strained so I threw away some more junk - metal caps, studded leather armors, unstacked rocks etc. You can still collect them if you like :p I 'milked', as you say, a goblin rockthrower for some ammo, but soon found some quarrels for crossbow.

Killing all in my way (like sheep and like cattle, crushing skulls of all who defied) I advanced to level 10. Upgraded Detect Item Status to 100, Literacy to 100, First Aid and Music (we have a fiddle!).

I learned a new spell: Neutralise Potion. The spellbook disappeared, but I stumbled upon another copy a moment later. How fortunate.

Near the end of my turns I fought a swarm of bling bling dogz. Teleport control! They kept moving in randomly, so I had to fight them off until turn 6005. I also prayed a little - we are still not comfortable. Watch out, a bunch of those dogs may still be around.

It was not corrupt tactics, trust me. It was a regrettable blunder done in a rash moment. My apologies.

I just checked out the guidebook and noticed that karmic lizards do not breathe bolts like karmic dragons do. I had forgotten that.

The karmic lizard didn't see in the dark.

The Cursed status does not increase food consumption.

Karmic lizards don't have a breath attack, but the chaos lizards do,
that is quite easy to confuse. No lizard can see in the dark.

6522 - finished cleaning of gnoll tension room. I've found great weapon again - flamming battle axe of mayhem(+0, 3d8+8)(murderous one worth keeping too).

6959 - dark elven wizard, killed, but death from acute blood poisoning.

15771 points, 7049 moves, I12.
Too bad, but descending once and waiting for 1900+ turns just isn't my style.

I would have taken the Greased Lightning talent if our Dex had been high enough. There were little good talents available. Maybe Careful would have been a better choice.

Didn't you have the Neutralize Poison Spell?

Perhaps the poison got stacked many times and the dark elven wizard cast his bolts at the PC. Maybe he didn't have the time to cure it since the spell often has to be cast several times to make it actually remove the poison.

These caverns seem to be endless.

Okay, so starting up again. I have a bad feeling about this I must say... but we'll see how things go.

I note I'm bloated with a decent amount of food in stock - nice. Divine Wrath isn't too high on castings, but we still have the spellbook.

Wow, that was quick. Went through the level, killed a couple of monsters, and then got hit by something invisible. I tried hitting back and he suddenly criticalled me down to 13 HP and stunned me. I thought on what to do and decided the best move would be to cast darkness. Well the char failed to cast and I got brought down to 0 HP on the next hit. God damn this cursing sucks...

Right then, time to take up the gauntlet and see where this game takes me.



6005 - Loaded game (after everyone is dying!) and look at everything that has been going on.

6134 - Made my way to the downstairs after killed a dwarf, karmic lizard, wight, wererat and a kobold. Kobold hit me down to 15HP. Damn this cursing. Head downwards to see what is going on in the lower levels of the world.

6376 - In 3rd room of new level. Killed a kobold, found a cyan potion and an iron ration. Am sensing a certain tension. Hmm, will go for a looksie.

6522 - Gnoll tension room. Book cast Divine Wrath a few times. Escape back down tunnel. Let them queue up and blast em again. Pick up ivory wand. Chieftain not come out yet.

6601 - Hmmm, must have killed the chietain before oh well. Very little loot.

6737 - Dark Sage blasted me good and proper. A couple of book casted divine wraths shut the bugger up (although down to 8HP)

6862 - Our muscles feel stronger. Woot.

7211 - Killed a large kobold. Goblin Slavemaster came along. Took it in hand to hand combat. Bloody hell, this cursing thing makes us weak as hell. Almost killed me, till I blasted him. Recovered health and prayed for a few turns.

7765 - Black wizard on the scene. Summoned some lizard men. Retreated into downstairs and started flinging quarrels around. Killed lizards. Killed a griffon, large bat and a raider. Killed the black wizard - advance to level 11.

Find Weakness: from 36 to 41
Alertness: from 47 to 51.
Music: from 34 to 44.

7956 - Prayed and got up to ?comfortable? status. Killed another lizard man. Went downstairs. Found a large bat. Prayed a bit more then started walking down corridor. Found room with downstairs in.

8005 - Saved game. Went to 8005 cos I started at 6005.

Finished my turn alive, yay.

With the down staircase found, I decided to explore I8, killed a tension room of gnolls, but found nothing of value. As I wondered around, I found some potions and a glass amulet. I thought I8 was a pretty safe place to stay for a while, so I spent many turns praying. I descended when an ogre magus showed up.

I had to use up the remaining castings of lightning bolt, and when I read the book again it disappeared, sorry. However, I feel that I used it judiciously because a lot of the monsters I killed the character couldn't take down in melee or with ranged weapons, and some of them were stat drainers.

I tried to improve weapon skills whenever possible, skill with polearms increased to 4 and thrown rocks is now at 3, and corssbows 2; but I must say, we will run into problems when lightning bolt get used up because thrown rocks still miss goblins.

I also found a book of cure light wounds, not sure how useful that would be. The character's mana stat increased by 1. On the downside, I ate all the food.

If your stomach tingles as a result, yes. -Acid happens around 90&#37; of the time with those corpses.

Steel Golems are vulnerable to electricity, right? He may shrug off some bolts, but he will be blasted eventually. I think it's a neat trick even for low-level spellcasters with Lightning Bolt spell, to go to the Darkforge and fry those golems for a massive experience boost.

Well, there is 'shrugs of bolts', and then there is 'SHRUGS OFF BOLTS'.
Steel golems aren't as bad as the Archmage, but they shrug off a lot.

I had a pretty painful headache yesterday. I'll finish my turn today.

EDIT: ...and I somehow managed to finish MYSELF.


12000-12444......Identified the broadsword: hateful broadsword 1d7+1 Put the glass amulet
on. Identified wands with a Scroll of Identify. One was a wand of trap
creation. Prayed ~80 times to regen PP. Hungry. Ate the piece of dry meat.
Created a teleportation trap near the locked door. Used it to teleport
near the upstairs. Killed a corpse fiend and a large kobold in melee.
Electrocuted by an out-of-sight lightning lizard. Took the amulet of light
off. Whacked the lizard in the darkness, making it panic. Hill giant threw
a rock which wounded me. Killed him in the darkness. Casted Darkness all
the way to the downstairs and killed the lizard. Casted Bless on myself
and descended. Killed an Invisible Stalker and a spider with Darkness.
12444-12775......Killed an imp. Found a spellbook of Neutralize poison and picked it up.
Hungry. Very hungry. Starving. Killed a hill giant with Darkness. Prayed
for satiation. Ground grumbled. Killed an orc scorcher. I began to see
lots of dire wolves. A werewolf lord! I thought, "Ah! Nice XP, nice loot!".
I happened to be in a corner of a corridor. I was just about to make the
bolt bounce to the room where the wolves were... intuitively by
casting it towards the angle of the corridor! Two pictures that may
clarify what I foolishly thought:

For some reason I still pressed 1 although I knew that it would be my doom. A good example why you should stop to think for a moment once more before finally pushing the button.

Here we go again.

12000 - Loaded game. With a stone golem apparently on the other side of the door, went into coward mode. Looked at stuff to see if there was anything good. Dipped 4 potions of water into potion of holy water to give me more holy water. Dipped potion of invisibility into Holy water. Drank it. Opened door to see harpy, dopple ganger, crystal statue and stone golem. Used invisibility to put monsters between myself and stone golem (who still hit me for 24HP), and ran off. Found the downstairs with a berserker lord, hill giant and lightning lizard. Killed berserker lord and hill giant with Divine Wrath. Lizard couldn?t see me. Descended.

12905 - Now on ID: 13. No food. Killed an outlaw leader. Explored. Found a scroll and a potion. Shadow lord came near so ran like hell. Killed some more critters. Acid vortex appeared, driving me down the stairs instead of getting melted.

12458 - Got hungry again. Still can?t find any food. Very hungry status??.starving. Prayed and got satiated, but the ground rumbled. Stumbled into some webs, and a wraith took 1 point of To. Killed wraith, killed spider and ate its corpse. Found an iron ration. Killed a raider. Another shadow lord. Blasted it continuously until it died. Kobold chieftain and gnoll appeared. Cast darkness and killed them both.

12666: Descended to ID: 15. Found a sword

13400: Have spent a lot of time praying to get rid of uncomfortable status. Nothing on level 15 at all. Downstairs to 16. Found some quarrels and a couple of scrolls. Open door - room of shambling mounds. Crap. Walk down corridor and another wraith exhausts me. Double crap. Killed a homunculus and a giant rat. No drops. Didn?t want to go back down corridor with shambling mounds. Explored rest of dungeon. Nothing. Come on RNG, gimme something good! Didn?t want to go downstairs because I?ve descended enough already. Spent some time praying and walking around the level hoping to spawn some other monster. No such luck. Shambling mounds burst onto the scene. Cast darkness and ran, one hit me just on the edge of my darkness, took me to 8HP. Coward mode, more darkness, and run again. Got back to the downstairs. Little other options, went down

13864: Read scroll of identify to look at other scrolls. Oh great, sod all use there. Walked down corridor, found other set of stairs. Walked into next room, Hydra. Cast darkness, closed door and went back. Prayed until 14000. Cowardly I know, but its kept me alive I guess. The room to the left has a darkness spell cast in it, and a hydra is in there somewhere.

14000: Saved and wiped away sweat.

I spent the great majority of my turn praying; it's cowardly, but I prefer to live.

I first examined the inventory, and dropped the hateful broadsword and the [-2, +0] mummy wrapping to get rid of the burdened status.

Food is a really big problem. I managed to find only a dwarven sausage, and had to pray for satiation near the end of my turn so it pretty much undid all my praying and then some. Lol'th was grumbling in anger.

I18 was generated twice with a river through it, so I went up and down to re-generate it. On my way to the down staircase of I18 I had to cast lightning bolt twice to kill a dark elven lord, bringing the number down to 21. I also found another book of cure light wounds, read it until it disappeared. Finally, I went into a mirror room and lost 1 Pe.

Enlir is now level 13, I put all the skill increases into first aid, which is now at 100.

There is a mimic and a lightning lizard on the level, somewhere in the darkness. There is also a horde of spiders, which we could potentially kill to generate some items, especially food. I'm not sure how well that would work.

In the end there will be no foes or friends just one survivor.



I18 - i toyed around a bit, but was forced to runaway. I was surprised how weak the char is.
I19 -I get some wererat action. Later i run into spider factory.
17000-Actually i start thinking if my default plan was wise. In other words if i can handle it myself.
Still i use spiders to get myself food and...
I use up divine wrath. After that holy water (managed to bless and drink unID potion which turned to be PoGA)
17950 - rearrange my equipment and start praying (without holy symbol be sure)
5 prayers later stuff is cursed.
17999 - descend to I20.

Good luck in surviving.
Honestly i would not like to receive this save file.
p.s. i will skip screenshot for two reasons - not lot of these been posted lately and some non competitors seem to be very keen on commenting plays. The ones who need will see essence of situation. It wasn't done at perfection, but... maybe in next round?

The Arena Grandmaster chuckles on his high throne. "How the mighty do fall... Some champions have truly shown their worth, but how much longer can they last? It is time now f-" He suddenly stops and shudders. He grunts in pain, a look of fear overtaking his face. ID:20 - Found a brass wand, ghost lord chased me off level.

ID:21 - Spellbook of farsight. Might help with running away from harder critters. Long bow found. Down a corridor - tension room of chaos lizards. Leave them to it and encounter werewolf lord. Hmmm. Does not look good. Manage to escape without taking damage. Run downstairs

ID:22 - Found spell book of slow poison. Joy. Found downstairs. Found another short bow. Found hill giant chieftain. Yeah right. Went down to ID:23. Prayed a lot.

ID:23 - Killed fire lizard, sense a certain tension. Prayed a little bit more. Found downstairs with a doppleganger in the room. Game up.


Oh, and to note. I've equipped another cursed spear, just to make it all the more interesting. Enjoy!

Soirana, I don't think it's enough to say you cursed everything and fail to point out that it included an equipped amulet of light. Quite a beautiful tactic of course, but in future please ensure you include a character log to show what you've done.

This applies to everyone - please be explicit about your corrupt activities, so that players and spectators know what's going on. You don't have to spell it out fully of course - as long as all the info is in your report in some form. It's generally safest to always include a dump showing current stats and eq. Remember that you shouldn't be benefitting from the knowledge of how you set up a dangerous situation - you should only be benefitting in how you can survive that situation better than the others. Or perhaps just benefit from general chaos...

somehow i missed the point about misinformation.

What does guy who gets file and haven't seen screenshot? Examins char himself. Which is fine. Glass amulet=amulet of light. That is very basic knowledge.

Not telling there is vortex around a corner is different case. Putting char at lowest satiation level before Hungry and throwing away food and not telling is not a healthy option.

Speaking of spectators... I could bet we would have seen few suggestions what to do with amulet. Spectators and commentators are different things. And i've seen a lot of later recently.

I won't post any screenshots or dumps or whatever from this point till the end. You can do it yourself if you like that.

And in case someone wants to blame me... I will leave char on Berserk always.

There's nothing wrong with commentators - people have given general advice and comments throughout all the leagues. And if no one posts any dumps this will get very boring very quickly.

You are right that any sensible player would thoroughly check all equipment etc at the start of their turn, but the rules still say you must be fully open in your report. If you were to benefit because someone didn't notice every nuance of one of your competitive tactics then that would be unfair - you would have won through knowledge of your set-up rather than game skill. If you give a full report then you have no worries about blame coming back on you in any way.

I don't want there to be any grey areas in the rules here about what you can get away with hiding in your reports. The simplest rule is no hiding whatsoever.

Well I died, but I think the chaotic tactics of the previous players have done little to cause it.

I descended to I24 and starts exploring, killed a harpy in the dark, then a troll chief came along.

Since it sees in the dark, my only option was to run. So I ran to the room in the northeast and another T came at me from the south corridor, this time it's a troll king, and since it's ADOM, the staircase can only be reached if I somehow bypass it with a troll chief chasing me.

I planned to use the goblin or the mummy as some sort of buffer so the trolls can't get to me, but on the very next turn, the troll king threw a rock at me and brought me from 70hp to 1. So I cast cure light wounds and continued to dance with the 4 monsters. I was getting somewhere until the troll king threw another rock, then the mummy hit me and brought me to exactly 0hp.

20094 - met greater claw bug. It does see in dark. Start running for good.
20373 - aparently stairs are in area behind claw bug.Luckily i've done my descend, unluckily it is freaking breeder. So if...
if i wait for 2k turns and don't die from starvation, area behind doors will be filled with green bugs, so i decide try my luck with teleport trap.

I think i didn't have much luck in landing from full health to -5 in one turn. You see i miscalculated landing point and instead of reaching area with guessable stairs i landed in middle of threat room full of bugs.

what can I say, I am just another looser.

Sad deaths on both accounts I must say, in spite of obviously inventive and valiant efforts to escape the clutches of death. In spite of the cursing and the chaotic tactics (or maybe in part because of them) we've really seen some excellent display of tactics in this league.

You think you could have beaten those greater claw bugs with a single spear? You think Lich could have survived the trolls and mummy if he wasn't dual-wielding? I think both deaths were due to bad luck, not any specific chaotic tactic. The previous rule that applied with the rust monsters was because everyone died to the same thing. I'm open to other opinions on the matter, but I think it's not so obvious here that you all suffered the same death.

Well - it looks like its make or break.

20000- Started game. Attacked doppleganger and got confused a few times. Eventually it fled and I wasn?t about to chase it. Since the stairs were there, descended.

20093 - Iron bound tome lying on the floor. Awesome. Nether bolt. Double awesome. Downstairs in adjacent room. Triple Awesome Very lucky, but I?m not going to argue it. Feel hungry - eat last ration. River on the level as well, but nether bolt can sort that out. Also got a tension room. Might as well go check it out.

20508 - Found tension room. All of hill giants plus one frost giant which will be a problem. Blast them anyway and take a few steps back. Hit by rock that takes me down to 4HP. Bugger. Heal myself,. And blast again. First row go down, and I retreat across ice covered water. Few more come into sight and they go down as well. One drops corpse. Take it, and go. Frost giant comes into view, run away back to downstairs and descend. Ate corpse and got +1 strength.

20735 - Now on ID:25.

21480 - Tension room of rust monsters. Blast a load then run off. They can follow me at their own peril. Ran down some corridors and found downstairs and large ration. Locked myself in room.

21836 - Door opened by Doppleganger Lord with rust monsters in tow. Rather than fight, I go down to ID:26.

21836 - ID:26. I sit here, eat my ration and pray.

22000- It?s all over. I'm still alive.

I renamed the dude to PeanutGod. Rather pompous I know, but the peanuts need a new Chaos God.

Armies of chaos warriors roar and cheer as PeanutGod steps through their ranks towards the mighty throne of Andor Drakon. They equip him in black and purple eternium armour, and on his head place a large horned helm encrusted in amethysts and dark sapphires.

The ElDeR ChAoS GoD looks down with a wry smile. "You have done well, mortal... As my champion, I present you with this from the depths of infinity - use it wisely." He brings forth a long item wrapped in a dark cloak. PeanutGod pulls the cloak aside to reveal a sceptre made of pure obsidian. He takes the Sceptre of Chaos in his hands, marvelling at the power it holds.

Andor Drakon steps up to address the vast chaotic legions. "All hail the new champion of ChAoS! He will be my right-hand man, and will lead you all to the destruction of this miserable world! Let us tear Ancardia apart, rend it to shreds beneath the unstoppable forces of Corruption! Go forth now and-"

He suddenly stops and jerks around, a look of anger overtaking his face. He glares down at the obsidian blade that has buried in his back, and then up at the evil grin on PeanutGod's face. "You- how dare you?!"

The Lord of Corruption chants magic words and a wave of dark energies flies towards PeanutGod, but he pulls the sceptre out and quickly rolls to the side. Recovering swiftly he rushes forward and chops through Andor's left leg. As the Chaos God falls heavily to the ground he swings the blade upwards and through Andor Drakon's head. Chaotic energies explode from the Chaos God's corpse, but PeanutGod is unfazed as he absorbs the vast powers. He runs his finger over the black blade of the sceptre and puts it to his lips, savouring the dark god's blood. PeanutGod steps forward and raises the sceptre high above his head as he shouts out to the chaotic armies.

Congratulations PeanutGod - a victory well-deserved, through your performance in both the league of Earth and the league of Mana/ChAoS. Bit of luck involved of course, but that's all part of the game. Besides everyone knew when using corrupt tactics that it would lead to more chaos that only the lucky could survive.

In consideration of a follow-up or repeat of this, does anyone have any suggestions on format changes or different rules or any other variations in theme or anything else? Might be boring to just repeat the same thing.

I think some sort of combination of this and the Roman republic game, i.e.competing groups, could be quite fun. I'm not sure what exactly would be the best format for it though.

One idea I had a while back was to have three teams, Order (playing hurtling healer), Balance (human druid) and Chaos (dark elf necromancer) playing relay games to see who wins first, possibly with some extra restrictions. Such a contest would probably work better without strict rules and instead relying more on a bit of role playing and friendly banter.

How about this idea:

One randomly generated PC, to be played by four
seperate teams. Objective is to close the gate
in the fewest player turns possible. Not game
turns, but player turns.

Perhaps merging some elements from the 'weakest
link' game in there also. Like if a player dies,
the PC doesn't die, but the player does get
eliminated. The save file could just go on to
the next in line. That should encourage more
participation.

Yes, that would be save scumming, so the PC's
wouldn't be eligible for the HoF. It would just
be for fun.

Thats the reason why I would not take part in that. I want to complete my first game without help and further spoiling. ; )

There is only one time in my life I will do that. Afterwards, I can come to all kind of challenges. Btw, this methods increases frustration experiences, as almost anything you encounter for the first time can kill your several-days PC. My last one fell to the cat lord...

In normal game (closing gate) you can get stucked really easily to some places...
And of course there is those who dont know what to do at her/his turn.
Winner team would be no doubt one with pro players - All others will die.

Let me remind you:
Adom is still a very hard game for moderate players!

Still I have nothing against this, I can play if I survive the beginning.
(still wondering that Rhea didnt die even once, or did she?)

Rhea did not die. She was put through hell once or twice, but she prevailed partly through sheer luck and partly through skill of the player.

My last one fell to the cat lord...

Yeah, that Cat Lord is a bitch. Although, in my current game, I absolutely spanked the proverbial pants off him. Playing a gnomish farmer - had a red dragon vault a few levels before cat lord. Killing the Wyrm bumped me up 6 levels. Found the cat lord acting all hard and tough. My character held up his hand and went:

'OI, CAT LORD!.....NOOOOOOOOOO' - Harry Enfield fans should get this.

Whilst playing chess on the side, my dude fended off the cat lord with a twig, got annoyed cos his chess board fell over and then smacked the felon upside the head. 3 hits, and he ran off, only to be shot down by 2 arrows. Didn't even get a level up. Cheeky bugger.

Mind you, this farmer has had some crazy luck. 4 AoLS so far, one spawning in the outlaw shop, other 3 all random drops. 1 to khelly, 1 blew up in a door, other 2 safely stashed. 3 Greater vaults , Giants, Giants, Dragons, artefacts coming out of his ears and generally rocking. Only issue is corruption :p

Back to the topic though, a challenge game where we race to complete the game would be good. Maybe three groups and try a L, N, C god endings. Whatever happens, I'll sign up for it all.

Completely random char for each league sounds good - would mean no sharing of item id information across the leagues like there was in the last game. Some leagues would be unluckier than others in what char they have of course, but since the competition between leagues is purely superficial it wouldn't matter.

As for the idea of doing several gate-closing chars in competition it's clear that some are for it and some aren't. Certainly I'd be up for it, but it'd likely end up with a relatively small group of players being involved. Trying for min player turns would be fairly exciting - having to balance between getting lots done and trying not to die. However with how horribly disorganised those games tend to be it could be a pretty painful experience too. I'll have a little think about decent ways to implement it...

I'm more than ready as well, but it may take a bit to finally decide on the format : )
Also, the last one seemed to me that it had a considerable amount of work in the
organizing side of things. I imagine hosting one of these eats up a considerable chunk
of time. I don't know if I would be up to hosting one : )

I'm undecided as to the format of the next game. However, for now I'm preparing for something different (and simpler). I'll announce it tomorrow.
