I just stumbled on this the other day. From comments in another thread I get the impression that there is some doubt over how much of an improvement it is.

What's wrong with it? Is the additional information inaccurate?

The additions are all accurate AFAIK. They might not be very useful, but then again there is plenty of useless stuff in the original one as well.

The problem people have with the modified guidebook is that the author of the original guidebook never gave permission to publish it.

A lot of its added info is code-dived too, which TB has said he doesn't want happening. And there's no editorial control over what gets added in. Not that the GB is 100% accurate either, but Andy does tend to test submissions himself a lot of the time to make sure he's not adding crap.

Well, the improved guidebook uses code-dived info, and that
leads many to believe that the stuff in there is always 100%
accurate. Most of it is accurate (not always though), but it
may not mesh with actually playing the game.

For example, take a look at the 'training with Garth' section. I
don't remember what it states exactly, but when I looked at
the numbers it gave for a guaranteed stat raise, it seemed silly.
Maybe it really does take that much gold for a guarantee, but
I don't think any player would actually pay that.

There is also the matter of mis-information. Coming from the
guidebook it's not so bad. One can definitely see how some
mistakes can be made, if you are gathering info from actual
hordes of players. Coming from the 'improved' guidebook though,
it seems less understandable.

Both guidebooks state that Ancient Karmic Wyrms do see invis.
The only problem with that, is that they don't. The 'improved'
guidebook has no excuse, for having the mis-information. There
is a complete (code-dived accurate) monster list that is already
compiled. If players read things in the 'improved guidebook,
please do not take it as perfect, because it's not.

Yes true, not everything is 100% accurate, since it is an unauthorized, stolen copy of AW guidebook, and only limited effort has been made to correct every piece of information. Nevertheless you are welcome to submit any inaccuracies you find. I do test submissions using AdomBot, both from here and from RGRA, and try my best to provide most accurate and complete resource. There will be another upload in couple of hours.

This is just silly. The people behind the Improved Guidebook, having so much new content, should have just
a) written a completely new guidebook,
b) or just post it as separate articles
instead of violating copyright!!

You know, reich is completely right.

I would like to third that. Do we really need two guidebooks?
Wouldn't it be better to use the regular guidebook for most
things, and also have a seperate (and distinct) source for the
other stuff? Copying just seems, at best redundant, and at
worst silly, because you're also copying the mistakes.

It would be nice to have the code-dived stuff presented
seperately. I know it's already a bit seperate, because of the
'+' mark that is beside most new stuff, but it's all part of the
same collection, so there could still be confusion.

If the info was exclusively code-dived, that would avoid the
mis-information. For instance, seeing that AKW's see invisible, and
believing it because they think it was code-dived.
