A first real victory for me :)

Azogah, the gray elven wizard, started with 26 learning, 23 mana and acid bolt + stun ray. Pretty high stats for my standards, so I thought he will meet some horrible death fast. But he prevailed!

After getting quests in Terinyo I went to Puppy Cave first. Mixed tension room on PC:1.. and I foolishly opened it straight away. Some gray oozes crawled out.. Acid bolt - damn, they are immune! Luckily grabbed some rocks from crushed room entrance and hammered oozes to death with help of stun ray. This room launched me to PC lvl5.

Found a sling, and herbs on PC:2 but ran away from ants. Found stable morgia/moss on PC:4, planned to harvest it after finding the doggy. Found it and ran to the surface, but ants ambushed us on PC:2. One attacked the puppy, I killed it, but damn dog then turned berserk and ran straight into ant nest. Oh well.

Went to harvest herbs and did so until a cave tiger came. Slowed him (book dropped somewhere) & ran away.

Restocked food in Terinyo. Needed altar to ID stuff, there was none in PC. Headed to Lawenilothehl. Bandit band ambushed me on the way, but they met quick end. Woot, book of Teleport! Killed beggar to change to N+ (was LN already). Learned how to pick pockets. Then went to Druid dungeon. I had acid bolt so at least he should be killable.

Found absolutely nothing interesting in DD, Keethrax fell after few bolts and dropped Burning hands book. Nice. Still, no altar. :(

Next step: SMC. Was PC lvl 10 by then. Stairs to UD were close but I searched SMC for the blanket and found it.

Also got Fireball book. Dived down to UD.. Nothing interesting too, some food problems near the bottom, had to pray. Still no altar! Found a pool on UD:7, left it for now. HMV didn't have much of interest in shop. Decided to go straight to Dwarftown, I desperately needed that altar. I don't recall any recent game where NO altars were generated in all starting dungeons.

Again food problems, bit of stoma that I had helped. D:1 featured nice river, but thankfully down stairs were accessible. Found scroll of identify. Arena solved my food problems. Found some weak tension rooms on the way down, trained spears + shield and pick pockets. Got Fire bolt and more Acid bolt. Found Dwarftown on D:11.

Finally, altar! Identified stuff, sold the junk. Found ring of teleport control among other things, awesomeness.

Started to train stats with ID'd herbs. Monster quest was to kill eye of destruction. Not that good..

Went back to fully explore previous levels. D:10 featured nice ring shop. Bought -fire, -acid, +invis. Harvested Big Room with invisibility killing almost everything that appeared. Gained 2 levels or so and got bored, worms started breeding, needed to train with Yergius. After quick trip to DT for ID/sell junk, went up. Found pool on D:1 and this time drank its strange waters. Got some nice intrinsics (-death, -stun, see invisible). Then proceeded to dry the UD pool up. Got luck, curse, some resists. Also ate blink dog corpse on the way for intrinsic control.

Trained with master thief, raised climbing dice to max, didn't bother with detect traps. Proceeded to pyramid. Being still cursed caused lots of wilderness encounters - well, free xp. Pyramid was easy thanks to teleport. Got climbing set from the stash and headed up. Got ankh & wrappings without problems.

Returned to DT to remove cursing and ID. Screamed of joy when saw bracers of toughness +7. Realized that I don't have SI.. :D And no money for sacrifices, which was not very good. Decided to free undead Griff from his terrible state. Trip to the graveyard and back took 10 days, where are my 7LB :( Anyway, undead were no problem, trained bow skills on the surface. Griff and necromancer were easy as everything else. Got gauntlets and sword and returned to scum Big Room. Gathered some gold and got to very close. Stashed blink dog corpse at Waldenbrook's in case I need it later.

Finally Big room bored me to death. I decided to go below DT. Luckily didn't enter the forest but Dwarven halls. Talking about luck.. acid trap destroyed my beloved bracers of toughness. "But I had ankh and a ring of luck!". Entered DH:2 with ring of invisibility on. Found mimic tension room but didn't feel suicidal enough to engage them. And then, a lich king apparently guarding the down staircase. Backtracked in dismay. Found phase dagger after ID'ing stuff.

More Big room boredom.. No eye. Went to Darkforge. Screamed with joy when found gray altar on lvl1. Tension room sufficed to satisfy Ayssia and she removed my curse at last. Ok, time for drinking game. First pool gave me my first corruption, 10 more eyes were nice to have. 5 other pools gave some and took some stuff. And the last one finally asked me nicely what do I wish for. I wished for a certain amulet and proceeded to teleport-loot forge stashes. No decent armor were there, although black dragon mail dropped on previous level. Snakes from the pool dropped helm of water brithing, which was also nice. Weapons were much better: eternium spear, some nice flail.

Returned to Dwarftown, 50 days already passed. ID, sell stuff, sac.. Got to extremely close, noticed that I'm N+, lured a guard down stairs and killed him. Doh, I'm N- now! Amulet of order helped. Prayed whilst N= and.. my prayers were unheard. What the? Sac'd last 500 or so gold and felt that I'm absolutely close to my deity. This time my prayer gave me shock immunity and the useless Staff of the archmagi.

Cursing Thrundarr and his ideas I went to ID. Somewhere at this moment I took a look at my spell list and saw that teleport is on ~70 points.. damn :( Anyway, ID turned out to be a good decision: found the damn eye of destruction on ID:5. Wohoo!

Talked to the ancient dwarf saying what I think about his quests. Then descended through animated forest. Helm of water breathing helped with few rivers on the way. Finally found the dying sage and gave him certain amulet, which he greedily snatched. He was at least nice enough to supply me with 6 SoCR, book of ID and book of Teleport! Returned to D:14 where i found a pool and dried it up. Gave me permanent invisibility.

Dwarftown, ID, sell, vanquished ogre tribe. Couldn't fight in the arena because of some stupid rules. :( Found an ordinary ring in lesser vault of dark elves on D:17.. yes, it turned out to be RoDS. Wished for 7LB. Also stole a SoCR from some skeleton. He had no use for it anyway. Trained bows at the graveyard clearing it.

Water temple was a cakewalk with invisibility and high-powered fire bolt. Discovered banshee and turned back because forgot to bring wax and didn't want to risk with wedding ring. Back to DT, ID stuff.. Bye battle axe of mayhem, welcome mace of destruction! Had 12 SoCR total, nice. What to do now.. ToEF or HK/Rift? Decided to go for the Library. Time: 65 days.

Found a pool on UC:2, left it for later. Explored caverns, nothing special. King fell after some bolts and one undead slaying shot. So, pool session now. Got teleportitis.. annoying interrupts when reading books :( But the pool was also nice and removed my invisibility. Stopped there and headed for the rift, stashing most stuff locked near the pool.

Didn't lose anything important on fall, but then realized that I forgot to bring food! Argh! Some molochs appeared to greet me, didn't kill them to not waste time. Quickling lord gave me some problems while I was stuck in webs. Quickling queen was also a bitch, but I killed her. Looted the place, but unfortunately some books got burned by damn golem breath :( Found altar on RL:7, dropped stuff to identify it.. only to find out the hard way that it was a white, not gray, altar. *THANKS, HERETIC!* So much for that blue metal cap. Good that I had another one stashed. Got out, fought my way through the arena and became the master. Exchanged gladius for tactics, trained with Garth, read books.

70 days.. The time for ToEF has come. Had blessed ring of ice, no problems there. Another altar there. Found PoGA, 6th or so so far :) Cleared everything below temple itself, regenned in the wilderness, and went to kill that wyrm. Willpower 48 and ice ball, baby! ACW didn't resist much. I ate his miserable corpse to strenghten myself, too bad I forgot I was on maximum mana :( Got rage and mana battery, cleansed the later with SoCR. Read scroll of familiar summoning: suddenely a fire giant king wanted to be my friend. He was slooow though, left him on D:1. Id'd stuff: Purifier! Used it till the end only swapping for Nonnak or phase dagger. Also, a crystal chain mail [-1,+12], which also was in use for long time, until it got damaged.

Found yet another pool on D:26, left for later. Passed the Eternal Guardian and entered the Casino. After winning some hard cash gathered everything from shop and identified. Not much there: 7LB, Black Tome Of Uselessness, fine boxing gloves, some potions & scrolls. Got bulging cranium meanwhile. Big guard didn't want to let me go with the cash, but I subtely teleported him away. Killed bunny master, found a red dragon lesser vault. Cat lord was nice and gave me his shiny ring, for the first time in my recent serious attempts.

I decided to kill minotaur emperor. Don't ask me why: no real gains there, time was running short.. Azogah just HAD to ;)

Visited Mad Minstrel, got 5 SoCR. And into the mazes. DAMN, it really IS a hellish place. Not for the monsters, I just casted magic map/teleport to run through, and even then it took me 5 days to find the Emperor (including stops to regenerate power). He didn't provide much challenge. I grabbed his enormous axe and one PoCC and left.

Waldenbrook became broke when I started to sell him all my junk. Nevermind, still had cash from the Casino. After that, I travelled to search for certain great water dragon. Found her, told Blupp about her whereabouts and returned for the kill. Azogah *was* hungry for power after all. Much to my dismay, I couldn't harm Shyssiryxius with neither Burning Hands nor Fireball. And of course, I didn't have Acid Ball - it was one of the books destroyed in Library! Sworn to return some day, I went to Dwarftown, took all my stuff that was stashed and dived into the depths of Caverns for one last time.

Air temple was as easy as water (and fire in fact). Fire/ice-balled everything that moved. Yulgash didn't cast single spell on me, only summoned his pathetic servants. I lost bow, cloak and bracers though. Mental note: ALWAYS drop stuff from these slots before entering hazardous environments.

Earth temple was also surprisingly easy compared to last time I was here (with another wizard char). Maybe my 54 PV made the difference this time ;) Prayed once for power, cleared everything. Easy with big balls *ahem*.

There was a tension room on the next level. There was a lightning lizard in this room. The lightning lizard managed to burn my stack of 7 SoCRs. ARGH! Nice that I had 8 more blessed and they weren't in one stack. Met a greater titan - couldn't hurt him with spells, arrows took too long and he could hurt me pretty much, so I bailed out.

Descended into Unreal Caves. Nice blue wyrm room, gave me some xp and items (yes, dropped everything before engaging!). Left Sharad-Waador's quest for after mana temple. Got surge of power on the next level: it yielded.. Thunderstroke :( There was a shop a level below, and I accidentally (really!) bolted shopkeeper. Lured him out and checked the shop (scrolls), nothing interesting anyway. Here my faithful crystal chain mail got unrecoverably damaged and I switched to black dragon mail.

Mana temple.. all went good till the Archmage came. I couldn't harm him with my ball spells, since I didn't have the damn Acid ball! ARGH! Tried to blind/confuse him and shoot with humanoid slaying ammo, but didn't have much of such arrows and I didn't do much damage. Retreated to come back another day.

So, I decided to do Sharad-Waador a favour after all. Left most stuff on the staircase and descended into the blue dragon caves. Rushed to the bottom without much problems, iceballed everything, getting 3-5 levels in the process. Came out, grabbed Sharad's treasure. Identified everything.. Spellbook of Acid Ball! Hell yeah! Danced with the great wyrm and proceeded to mana temple to read: didn't want teleportitis to disturb me. Oh yes, I also found ring of immunity buried somewhere in my draconic treasures :D

Blessed the book, drank learning boosts and started to read.. only to find Nuurag-Vaarn right beside me! Damn wizard came right to the stairway from inside the temple. Bah, came to earth temple then. Book disappeared after only 2 readings, despite being blessed and my 54 Le. Oh well, this should be enough.

Returned to the mana temple and swiftly ended the life of this pathetic "archmage". Evaded all of his spells. I grabbed the orb he carried and then ate his corpse. The temptation was too big. "Pure taint and corruption...and power!" Got both "quickling tree" corruptions after that, among others. Cleared the whole temple afterwards. Who's the archmage now, huh?

Got the mana battery somewhere and toasted all wands (knowingly), it didn't matter at this point. Uselessness gift was Nature's Companion - not that useful right now. I had second !oU, but Ayssia didn't give me anything for it. Stupid goddess.

And finally the time has come for the final battle. I prepared myself and entered the level with Chaos Gate. Surprisingly, there was a tension room there.. with things like emperor lich, great karmic wyrm, mimic hivemind, doppelganger king. I shot the wyrm, acidballed lich, iceballed everything else. And the real slaughter begun. Used mostly ice ball, sometimes acid ball on balors. Cleared everything, closed the gate. The world has been saved (hopefully).

Found like 10 pairs of thick gauntlets there, and Whirlwind. Time: day 85. Went to chat with Sharad-Waador a bit after that. We started to argue about some existential problems after a while, so I shot him. Stupid wyrm.

Visited the Mad Minstrel to chill a bit after all this, and found some strange tree near his hut. Don't know why I didn't see it before, maybe certain corruptions I acquired caused that ;) Didn't want to risk it now and left it be.

I then helped certain great white unicorn to get rid of his mortal enemy (did I hear that before?), and he cleansed all my corruption. Relieving, although some of them were nice.. Also, visited an old barbarian that I've met before. He now taught me about something he called 'Courage'. Weird guy.

What else? I felt that I should pay a visit to Assassin Prince, and so I did. He was positively surprised by my power, and even talked about some work I might do for him. "Do I look like some errand boy?", I answered, and killed him. Arrogant freak.

I also visited fellow Yergius from the Thieves Guild. Told him that the time has come for a new leader. He didn't really like that.

There was but one thing than needed to be done then. I travelled to the lair of a certain great water dragon for my revenge. This time I shall have it! And I did. Shyssiryxius was at least a formidable opponent, but she fell to my feet at last. Then..

You summon a huge globe of ethereal acid which envelopes everything around you!
Shyssiryxius, the female great water dragon roars one last time before she is consumed by the acidic fluids!
Suddenly a thundering voice intrudes into your mind.
"MORTAL, YE DAREST TO SWITCH THEE ALIGNMENT AFTER *I* HAVE CROWNED YE TO BE MY CHAMPION?!?"
"DIE FOR THIS SACRILEGE!!!"
A bolt of black energy hits you!
You seem to be immune to that bolt.
You hear a voice in your mind...
"*DAMN, YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS HUMILIATION, TOO*"
Suddenly several figures appear out of nowhere!

I laughed at the stupid goddess and walked away.

26 Learning? That was practically kindergarten mode then :p

Kidding. Congratulations on that victory - winning ADOM always is a great achievement (maybe not with a hacked wand of wishing or with savescumming, but you get the point). Now go for some less easy-peasy classes ;)
