Since the number of generated artifacts influences the number of available pre- and postcrownings I'm eager to know about the dungeon level range on which the Moon Sickle can be generated.

What are your personal experiences? Does anyone know the exact level range?

I think it's between Dwarven town - Khelly, excluding DH and forest.
Well of course since the dwarftown is also moving we can only assume its somewhere D:10-15

I've seen it bellow Kelly and if memory serves well bellow dwarven graveyard.

For precrowning things - going bellow dwarftown gives risk of it.

In my game with Newidd, I found the AS on D:20.

I got all the way to the mana temple without seeing it earlier this week.

Sure you didn't just miss it??? I would think its incredibly rare for it to be anywhere near as deep as the Catlord, let alone the mana temple. I have found it below the dwarven graveyard, but never below the Wall of Flames.
