My equipment was somewhat odd, because short before the chaotic diety punished me for trying to convert the water temple altar - destroying everything. My backpack cannot be read, as most of it is lying on the ground near the entrance of the skeletal king's lair.

To the cause of my death: I killed the sceletal king with arrows of hunting. I was convinced, that he had dropped a corpse in the lake (probably it was merely a bone). I was so curious... then forgot to freeze the water before retrieving it. Or better said: After playing too long in a row, the time slot for deciding things often becomes too narrow. I just thought: "yes I might die, jumping into that lake, but I have some HP. it's a risk, I just take it." and then, before the second thought kicked in, I already was reading: "you are drowning". At first relieved, that the damage wasn't too harsh, the second message was something like: "the red fish ... " ah i don't remember, but if you are interested in numbers: the dive cost 284 HP. (a little too much).

Another thing: this time, I used the dispel undead spell for the first time (found around 5 spellbooks) and learned: if trained well, it is possible to instakill almost any undead on the way (ghost lords, vampires, liches). Then by coincidence I chose 'good learner', and learned that it leads to 'good book learner'. Cool.

Question: what the heck is veil of the gods? whats it's arcana magic name?

The armor i found there is a worm-ridden one. Also a first for me. Greater Identify says that it increases the probability to get sick. Well, with curaria mancox, i gave it a try. Never had a problem.

Skullcrusher was generated in the black market, but I could not afford to buy it (~20000gp). Would it have been worth it? whirlwind was generated without me noticing it. My crowning gift was the so-called "hammer of the gods" - a quiet useless thing imo. shock immunity also isn't my favourite.

Still, an interesting game.

Veil of the Gods is Invisibility.

Skullcrusher would've been worth every single coin of those 20000, IMHO. You just don't get humanoid slayers in every game.

I know what you mean about extended play sessions warping judgement.
I recently attacked the old crone in the HMV, thinking she was a randomly
generated chaos brother! Of course I could have just 'l'ooked, but... : )

Quite a bad way to go. At least now you have first-hand experience on that pool, so you're less likely to get your judgement clouded in exactly that way again.

To get rich in the early game without abusing the dragon gold bug set up a herb farm. You will be able to buy artifacts and a good amount of Garth training if you pick up and sell enough herbs. A blessed pepper petal is worth about 100 gp at Waldo's and the other herbs are pretty valuable too.

Ha, someone else died to those piranhas.
I remember my archer, who tried to read a spellbook while standing next to the lake. I got confused and then I walked into the lake. Those fish were pretty vicious.
