Yasd, that#s only worth to be posted as I am now very low on time for playing adom. Spending some 3-4 hours every weekend on it, this character here had a lifetime of one month, and died yesterday night due to overconfidence.
Would have been interesting what she could have achieved, but well - dead is dead. Maybe next weekend, I start a new one.

The story: A female gnomish wizard - nothing special, but there were some lucky things in it, like the AOLS early found, the first kill an outlaw and... as a first time: i had noted it.

Last things I did was killing the ACW by blinding and acid balling him, then slaying the Minotaur Emperor. Its quite turning the intention of the maze upside down with a wizard that is capable of magic map and teleport - When I was there, I was a little scared as all of my food left were 13 cooked lizards and I had committed some piety errors, so no relying on that. Still I was leaving the maze with the axe and the potions and 3 lizards left over in my pack...
Then I jumped down the rift, luckily i only lost some nice arrows.. I have never been to the library with a spellcaster. Awesome book selection. Then hours of reading spellbooks - and indeed, reading difficult spellbooks is it that increases the learning stat, I can confirm now. Create Item, petrification, and Wish of course, all gave me stat increases. Reading wish was quite a hassle - I used a blessed stomafilia at satiated, took off all artifacts except the crown of science and then read two blessed scrolls of satiation. However, casting it was out of question: 3000pp. I somehow remember a wand of wonder giving a paladin of mine the spell 'divine favour' costing only some 400-500pp. However, I forgot to cast it finally, so I don#t know if this was the wish equivalent. Other things about spells: I had trained #destroy undead# to the point of instakilling liches, vampires and shadow trolls. A master lich I met, however, wouldn#t let me get close to him to test it, because of constant summoning. So I balled him (don#t with which ball actually).

Then with a maximum number of SOCR (19 actually, and 3 potions), I decided to dive down to the casino. On the way I had a little game with the banshee, I read about somewhere on the forums... I deafened myself and let the banshee follow me up to the animated forest... She had erased almost all off the trees when she started to punch through my armor due to her extreme experience level... I had to acid ball her as well *sigh* - I will try next time with a male and a wedding ring...
Then, I found skullcrusher, ironfist and the ring of immunity (!) in the casino shop, and since i was chaotic, I felt up for some fun...
Earlier, when killing the greater demon in the dwarfen city, I somehow enraged waldenbrook, and although nobody in town disliked me afterwards, a bunch of muscle dwarves was behind me, lead by the merchant. I could take out all of them easily - the hardest part was to protect the demented ratling (and calming him down periodically - choleric guy) and not hit any dwarven goodwives..
So I concluded, that this puny human casino shopkeeper (and the rest of the casino) should not stand in my way and I tried to acid ball him. That was classic overconfidence. I should have eiter: teleported out and left (did once to replenish pp, but came back to finish), prepare myself better for the fight with all the nice stuff I was carrying, or not letting myself getting into melee with him with the relatively low number of hitpoints - and of course darkness, invisibilty, blindness etc.... (can you throw a potion of exchange at a shopkeeper?)

I believe Divine Favour is the same as Create Item, and Divine Intervention is the same as Wish. Both spells, incidentally, I've found to be basically useless in regular play.

I have a question(because I've never made it that far): Does invisibiliy-theft work in the Casino? You know, the thing where you rather up everythign you might want, pile it by the door, become invisible and pick up as much stuff before the "XXX stares at your position intently" message is generated?

Nope, the casino shopkeeper always sees you instantly if you turn invis. Best way to steal in my opinion is to use Ventriloquism on his - just be sure you can take a few hits and teleport the hell away. Wand of far slaying from over a certain number of squares (ask gut for the precise figure) will also make him hostile without upsetting the rest of the casino. However it is perfectly legit to just gamble up however much gold you need - the casino guard can be teleported away or moved with a failed gambling attempt.

Not 'his' but 'him'. That was a typo, because the letter S is so close to the letter M on the QWERTY keyboard.

Edit: Yes, after you finish gambling, just go to the 'down' stairs and teleport the guard away. He wont return to his post again. You can get enough money in Casino in a single game turn... to buy whatever you wish from Casino, or all of it. With no shopkeeper issues whatsoever.

Though sometimes you get awfully stunned by the extended gambling, which can be shit if you can't (or don't want to) wait for 100s of turns at worst and can't use a prayer.

I prefer zapping the shopkeeper. I think he just needs to be out of your LOS. Shooting next to him probably works also, but I won't guarantee that.

I assume that there's no worse thing in an ADOM game than death and a crash that cant be recovered. The shopkeeper can kill you. The gambling stunning is more unlikely to. Remember... if you leave the shopkeeper alive, he may restock later, generating a whole bunch of new and different items. That itself is the main reason why I dont rob any shops in ADOM ever.
