Hello all!
I have been playing ADOM since 1999, and finally managed to win! There was a time when I was thinking, that game is impossible to win without save scumming, but spoilers did their work )

His further life:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

After slaying Andor Drakon and absorbing his powers you quickly grow
accustomed to your new might. You enjoy yourself slaughtering your
opposition for a couple of moments and then prepare for a greater goal...
the conquest of your former home world.

To your own surprise you have to realize that omnipotence is a stretchable
word and that you no longer are strong enough (maybe due to the heavy
fighting before) to pass the Chaos gate or even send malicious energies
through it to harass Ancardia. Thus you bide your time and enjoy yourself
sending Chaos troops to Ancardia every couple of centuries.

This continues until you are finally strong enough to create a bridge
between the planes of Chaos and Ancardia. Sadly a nasty surprise is waiting
for you: the heroic folks of Ancardia obviously did not forget the last
incursion of Chaos and this time a hero is prepared to challenge you. Bathed
in the radiance of Law and Goodness He enters your home plane and challenges
you to a battle.

To your very surprise your dark magics don't effect him and you are killed
in a long battle. In the last seconds of your life, facing the might of the
hero of light, you wonder if everything could have been different, had you
made some other decisions in your mortal life...

I found 7LB early, but they were destroyed in dusty dungeon.
Early Crowning (about clvl13-15) brought me Justifier with poisonous hands.
After identifying stuff in ToHK I found WoW with 4 charges. During the game I found 4 more RoDS. 1st wish - 7LB boots, 2nd - Giant Boar Skull, 3-7 - SoCR, 8 - Girdle of Giant Strength.
Almost died in ToEF - 7 hp left after fire elemental critical hit. I exit tower without Orb and went to ID for SoC. Killed MaLaKaI with 2 hits in darkness and got about 5-6 corruptions before dropped scepter in Dark Forge.
After that got Medal of Chaos, completed tower, got weird tom, retrieved all orbs, killed Ancient Blue Wyrm, killed Keriax and cleared D50.
Found Preserver in great fire dragons vault and BoW as 'surge of power' on the bottom levels of CoC.

Stupid mistakes:
sacrificed cat;
got inventory cursed during altar conversion;
killed druid in Terinyo before clvl30;
read most SoCR *before* entering Chaos Gates;
forgot to switch Medal of Chaos with Preserver on Chaos Plane. Fortunately, corruption teleported me away when I was paralyzed by Andor.

Decent means average...?

Decent means average...?

Decent means somewhat large. I'd say 0-1 wishes is probably average in a gate closer. Maybe 2-3 for an ultra/OCG.

I might +1 your gate closer numbers - if a PC wins without finding a single RoDS, they have been unlucky, rather than average. A second, that already sounds lucky :) Unless one habitually does an obscene amount of pickpocketing, or abuses another item generation technique, finding WoWishing is pretty damn rare - I once randomly found one WoW in the Fire temple with 5 wishes altogether (almost fell out of my chair), apart from that, never more than 1 charge (two wishes), and WoW found altogether, probably countable on one hand using base 10.

So yeah, 1-2 potential wishes (you might not use them) for a gate closer.

On the other hand, Ultra's tend to spend a lot more time generating stuff, and unless they have exceptional luck, pretty much have to have at least one wish as minimum boundary, would be extremely unlucky not to encounter another wish on the floor below Kelly, so for averages, gonna go for 3 for Andy Slayers...

Ergo, 8 wishes = very very decent indeed :)

Dang you and your "slang" crap!
Yeah, I'd say 1 wish average for gate closer, and about 3 for ultra's. If you find a WoW, then I go wow!
