Well.. i did it again... =P

This guy started out with 22 To, it was easy getting him through most of the game. Wyrmlance on darkforge gave me an awesome advantage against dragons and i met a lot of them in this game.

Other artifacts of value generated: AotME (main weapon), Protector and Skullcrusher (both generated in the air temple... kidna of a joke since it was late in the game and training shield marks then was gonna be booooring)

RoDS on graveyard so i went for ultra. 7lb's on PC: 5 made me get to lvl 38 before day 60, when i planned on facing keriax [edited]. problem was, this guy was too fast (lost weigth corruption didn't help), i only found slow monster at the casino and didn't have PoInvis so the wyrm didn't give me much experience, neither did momma dragon. I faced all blue wyrms in the BDC with wyrmlance while slowed and i was returning to the surface at lvl 38. I had no idea how to get to lvl 45 w/o getting too corrupted, i had 1 wish but i had to use it for wands of monster creation since none was generated (very unlucky) and scumming for one wasn't in my plans.

But... the BDC had a bunch of greater titans.... last time i died (with yet another AotME weilding PC) to a buch of regular titans and someone said to me that they didn't see in the dark. Well.. i don't think they do, but they panicked really really easily... i mean... blind raged really easily... and well... greater titans kinda hit hard =P.

it was sad, this was going to be my first ultra and i was looking foward to it... but honestly... monk's speed is overpowered... they should just get their reduced energy cost.. that's fast enough. I discovered i hate slow leveling PC's =P. Yay for gnomish farmers =P

Wait, do you mean you didn't gain one single level in BDC or do you mean that you killed all the dragons and wyrms in BDC, headed up to kill Keriax, found out he was too strong, and decided to dive to fight Greater Titans instead?

Anyway, there's plenty experience on D:48 and in the Earth Temple. Perhaps even AKW.

Good luck on your next:)

You don't have to be level 45 to fight Keriax, and he might actually give another level. Who knows?

He is a tough motherfucker though.

i know i know... i was ready for him but then i would have to scum about 4 other levels to get the filk quest. and yes, tough indeed, so there's another reason why i wanted to be more experienced.

And i had done all temples except mana already, the monk had 155 speed because of very light corruption, 75 while slowed, it was really hard gaining XP with him.
And the BCD gave me 2 levels while slowed. i entered there at level 36

Had the same issues with my ultra-beastfighter and my normal-ending monk. Slow levelling, very slow due to the innate speed bonus + Dex + RotMC. Usually you might as well spare a potion of invis for things like the ASB, get Good Learner before getting the real big XP critters and hope for the best. A nice pair of -40 Spd boots of the slow shuffle are one of your best friends in the whole wide world :) Earth Temple elementals and grues are worth quite a lot of XP and are worth slowing yourself down using the boots. Just lure them off the level in small groups so as not to get surrounded and hack away. Casino ought to give you enough some potions of invis (finishing off AKW and ASB and maybe Ancient Blue Wyrm) and a pair of boots of the slow shuffle, if you're willing to force a restock by packing all the stuff in one space.

As far as your Titan-problem is concerned, after losing one very promising char a long time ago I decided a 400 HP cushion is the minimum when fighting a titan, even in the dark. Greater titans ought to warrant more caution, but I've yet to fight any recently. Safest bet might be to clobber them in the dark until they panic then step away, light up area, finish off with giant slayers from afar, repeat. Out of sheer curiosity, how hard did that Greater Titan hit you?

I had around 600 HP and ended uo with -60, but i don't remember it it was one single hit.
