I had an insanely lethal troll barbarian with Vanquisher get killed on D:31 (or whatever number it is past casino) by eating a gorgon corpse because I was wearing my amulet of free action instead of amulet of petrification resistance. It was very saddening. Die and learn.

meh, from what I've seen in places where people talk ADOM, people usually learn that gorgon corpses = death when they go for them thinking something like "if I eat a fire-breathing dragon, I get a resistance so surely gorgons do the same" and then get a nasty surprise.

The instand you see a gorgon = coward mode. Apparently DV helps against the breath.

The instant I see a gorgon it's berserk and blast all my ranged items in his face. If that doesn't work, then it's coward mode and cry like a baby and pray my wands kill him before I turn to stone.

Actually I always go berserk and melee them, not thinking about consequences ;)

The other way around makes much, much, much more sense.

Seriously. What are you saving your wands for?

I don't know exactly. I only see about one or two gorgons a game and my natural reaction is to use missiles for ranged first. Doesn't require any lining up and no out-of-sight cat killing risk.
