Monsters don't actually follow you into the wilderness

If you leave a dungeon for the wilderness with hostile monsters next to you, it says they follow you, but when you come back to the dungeon they're gone.

Yes, they wander off into the wilderness and should become random encounters. But I also noticed that the message is missing (again :-( ).

Really? They're that easy to shake loose once you get out of a dungeon? I would think that they should either follow you to wherever you next get out of the wilderness, or prevent you from leaving the dungeon in the first place.
