Human Monk (2nd win, 1st full melee)
Woo! I'm so happy to have just won. It was a topsy turvy game to say the least.
Before I get started, I'd just like to say something funny. My name throughout the entire game was "HuMon5". If you're wondering where it came from, it has to do with the way I scum for starsigns (in this case, set it to automatically be Human female monks, and keep scumming until i have a handful with Raven/Candle, and then take the best. I was actually playing HuMon2 originally, until she died horribly and quickly). I meant to rename her "Danica", after the monk in the Cleric Quintet, but after getting my first ever RoDS (2 of 'em!) really early on, and getting a wish from a pool in my first set of drinks, in abeisance to the RNG i left my name the way it was.
Btw, here was the sequence i got from my first, and only, pool drinking:
Pool (-Fate Smiles, Water gust + vipers, +Stun Resist, -Invisibility intrinsic, Wish ? AoLS, +youth, strength training, snakes, +Petrification Resist, snakes, ?Iceberg?, Frog quest, dries up)
Also, just thought id say, but I spent the majority of the game just holding down the movement button to attack. This game was literally laughable at the majority of the time, difficulty wise, although I had to use up all of my Boss-killing wands.
Notable Achievements/Happenings:
--Got my first few levels in the ID, never really found ANY spellbooks over the course of this game, and didn't get a blinkie corpse there. I gained TP control when i randomly found one later on.
--PC:4 gave me my first ever Surge of Power, it was "Long Sting" guarded by a named grizzly bear. I never used it =)
--The cavernous level of the Puppy Caves had a Lawful Altar, so I ended up getting a PreCrown and a Crowning there. PreCrowned with "Bracers of War" (Hellz yea) and Crowned with Cold Immunity and "Shezestriakis" (never used it, made me sad i didn't get one of the good ones)
--Had a close moment in UD:8 - was exploring a Lesser Vault when a Werewolf Lord double critted me, bringing me to EXACTLY 1 hp. Needless to say, I ran like hell (and never returned)
--Pyramid was especially lucrative - barely made it in there under the level limit, but the top floor guardians rewarded me with +4 Strength from corpses. Even w/out invisibility, I could hack through them all with ease.
--D:5 Had a morgia patch. I picked until i had enough for 25-27 to/wi.
--Big room never pacifiied, never stayed there for more than 20 turns.
--D:9 was herb city, had morgia/mareilon/spenseweed/stoma all there. Spent MANY a turn picking herbs
--Thrundarr had me kill a Giant Spider, and I ran into a spider factory when i went back down to D:9. Easy.
--The two wishes i mentioned above ended up being spent on Spellbooks of Frost Bolt (i had no way to cross the lake to get the RotHK, and I didnt want to search for one) and Alchemy (which ended up being completely useless, as I could never get it to 100, or even 50ish). never found a single suit of elven chainmail in the game
--Due to odd circumstances, i ended up raiding darkforge after the ToEF, go figure.
--Accidently robbed the Dwarftown shop, killed Waldenbrook and all of the dwarves he summoned. Yum.
--Didn't realize i was cursed and doomed, and did the ENTIRE ToEF while both cursed and doomed. w00t.
--ACW was a piece of cake. \oStunning + \oPoison + Penetrating Arrows of Darkness = Win
--Very few issues after that with the game, mined out all of Ogre Cave and smithed before ToEF, and most things in the game could barely touch me (even D50 Balors couldn't consistently hurt me, much less everything else, only had to drink a couple of extra healing potions because i was switching places my way into the crowd to kill the summoners)
--Cat Lord was one of the few issues, considering he spawned right next to me when i descended to his level. A scary moment, to say the least. Say combo as ACW beat him.
--My only Greater Vault was undead, so i skipped it.
--Air Temple was a breeze, Water Temple was pathetic, Earth Temple gave me problems (Had to use Wand of FIreballs and ALL of my wand-recharging stuff to get through the PV, i never found any Penetrating weapons besides the arrows, which were lost to a tension room of Ancient Karmic Wyrms that I ran from and never finished). Berserking barely hurt enemies, but once i woke the Beast, poisoning him a half dozen times + melee wore him down. Also, found 7LB'S in air temple, never used them.
--Mana Temple = also easy, i never got hurt by the Archmage. !oConfusion + !oPoison + Humanoid slaying arrows
--As i said above D50 was simply tedious. The only worry i had was that i would not have enough corruption removal, but it ended up being fine.
Well, that pretty much sums it up, so now I'm going to post the memorial file.
Woo!
