Fix gods giving you a pickaxe when praying when you don't need it.
as above, more below.
There are a few situations where a god will gift you a pickaxe (severely abusing your piety) when you don't need one, or, in fact, need something else, desperately, like healing. This is very frustrating. Some situations where this can occur when you don't have a pickaxe, but definitely don't need one:
after gaining entrance into an elemental temple, if your pickaxe(s) / wand(s) of digging have been destroyed in some way (mostly TOEF, but could happen in MT) or you have left to save them from destruction
Now, I'm selecting this as a p9 bug, but I haven't confirmed it for that version. Since I don't see any mention of fixing this, I assume it is still a bug, but it shouldn't be hard to confirm. It would be nice if the above situations could be rectified. (I realize the last one may be a bit hard to fix, but it is one of the most frustrating.)
Easy fix is for the god to give a regular prayer reward alongside the pickaxe. Or just prioritise those other things, only giving a pickaxe as a last option (like inventory uncursing and the like).
Problem is, pickaxe costs a lot of piety (especially if you have just enough to get two). This can lead to an unexpected lack of piety at critical points.

I think this is best. It avoids complicated checks like whether or not the player has managed to dig into the temple yet. The pickaxe gift might need priority over healing minor injuries (like 10 damage from heat in the tower) but not over anything else.
