You can now no longer give the Demented Ratling *any* gauntlets

The demented ratling will no longer take any artifact guantlets, from any class.

Playing a DE ranger, I tried to feed the Gauntlets of Eternal Peace and Elemental gauntlets to the Ratling, and he ignored them both. He ate other artifacts, though.

Are you saying it's still possible to "give" him gauntlets?

What I meant was that Thomas added a condition check between Pre 8 and Pre 9 which makes this currently impossible. It looks like a coding error to me, so I need his opinion to fix it.

Oh, I see. It was the same time Duelists was introduced, maybe it has something to do with their 'glove slap' class power.

Yuo're correct, Stingray. Originally, duelists would give the Ratling a glove, and in doing so, this wuold 'slap' him. ;) This was probably meant to be a fix, whether temporary or permanent, that made an 'oops'.

This is still a problem in p23. Just tried to give the ratling the elemental gauntlets and gauntlets of eternal peace, wouldn't take either of them. Playing with a priest.

Uhm... I just gave the ratling Shezestriakis, the gauntlets of peace.
Here's the message log:
The demented ratling ignores uncursed gauntlets of eternal peace
"Shezestriakis" (-15, -15) [+15, +3]. The demented ratling picks up the
uncursed gauntlets of eternal peace "Shezestriakis" (-15, -15) [+15, +3].

Apparently it still needs to be fixed in R49, that's what I'm playing right now.
