PC is "teleported" to the CoC entry after exiting the DDL
The PC appears at the entry to the CoC after exiting the DDL, instead of the "rather boring cave entrance".

Problem
The PC appears at the entry to the CoC after exiting the DDL, instead of the "rather boring cave entrance" he entered through.

Code:
                             &&o                         ="""""""&&^~^^^^.^^
                            ^^&&&                        """""""&&~~~^....^
                           ^^^^^^^                       """"""&&&&&o..~^^^
                            ^^@^""                       """""&&&&&&&&&&^^
                           ^^^^"""               ""=     """&&&&&&&&&&&
                            ^^"""               """==     &&&&&&&&&&&&
                             """               .^^^^==     ""&&o&&&&~
                                               .^^*^^=      ""&&&&&&
                                               ....^^^^  ="""&&""&&
How to reproduce it
Enter the DDL, then try to exit to the wilderness map. The expected behavior would be appearing at the same spot you entered from (as it's been until 1.2.0 Prerelease 14 inclusive).

Notes
I haven't reproduced this with another PC yet, so the bug might be specific to my character. Nonetheless it still warrants a bug report. Savegame is available upon request.

Thomas mentioned a new easter egg in the blog, perhaps this is it? It would makes sense considering this area of the game is associated with teleportation (and makes a good shortcut in that case!).

I could reproduce it. It seems this effect was introduced by fixing a display problem with NotEye. I hope this only happens on this specific level change (and it's not the easter egg).

'fraid to say, the same thing happened to my PC upon exiting UD:8.

Then there's definitely a bug in place (either with the easter egg or whatever is causing this teleporting), and it makes at least the HMV off-limits to everyone, so it's pretty serious. :(

I have also encountered this once, earlier today, with pre-release 15. Exiting the puppy cave plopped my character on top of the CoC. (Save file available if desired.)

That's an epic shortcut. Perhaps the puppy simply left Terinyo and found himself teleported to PC:6 all these years. :D

I think I'm going to build Prerelease 16 right now... with the previous "ascend level" routine from Prerelease 14.

Do you mind a Curious George here asking: what changed with the routine, as to why this happened? .... or would that potentially be getting into 'spoiler' territory? :)

ADOM changes the current map multiple times in this routine. This can result in NotEye using the wrong tileset for a short time, for example while ascending to the surface map in the Dwarven graveyard.

Apparently my bugfix for this caused another bug which didn't came up during our testing phase (we should improve on that I guess). So I reverted my changes and we're back with a working "ascend level" routine and a (sometimes) wrong tileset. ;)

Aha! Thanks. I was just curious. ... I'm one of those people who doesn't necessarily need to know the actual code, but likes knowing the 'tinkering path'. :D
