Monster berserker status should be more refined

Up to ADOM 1.2.0p22 monsters going berserk got bumped quite a bit:
-6 DV
+6 to hit
+6 to damage
double attacks

Starting with p23 this will be more gradual:
-6 DV
+3 to +6 to hit depending on base level
+3 to +6 damage depending on base level
more attacks (minimum of one extra attack, maximum of three or double attacks whichever is less), again depending on minimum level

This should prevent monsters from becoming too much of a death machine in response to http://www.adom.de/forums/showthread...sue-1-2-0-p22)

I do wonder if berserking monsters has actually been bugged for a long time, now that I see what it's supposed to do; 'blind rage' monsters seem to get WAY more than double attacks. The gnoll that killed me went from 2 attacks to 9+ (the 9th killed me). Even if my speed gave it two turns between mine and its attacks doubled from two to four, it should only get eight.

Either way I'm happy to see a moderate nerf to this; blind raging monsters are one of my more common and unpredictable YASDs. You tool up to be safe to be in the area you're adventuring in, you fight a monster that you've killed 10 of already, and suddenly it instagibs you from high HP - always felt a bit unfair to me.

This is a good idea and will make some monsters (cat lord, casino shopkeep) not insta-death in melee, which is cool.

I'm just going to post this.
Version p23:
Monster memory:
Code:
Great red wyrms seem to have a DV of 45-67 (55 on the average). They have a PV
of about 30. The maximum PV encountered was 31. They seem to have 1206-1261 hit
points (1230 on the average). Usually they attack 3 times. You noticed a
maximum of 9 attacks. A hit causes 51-392 points of damage (181 on the
average). They seem to have a speed of 117-135 (129 on the average).
They are able to breathe fire. They are able to quickly regenerate. They are
able to cast spells.
Combat log:
Code:
You hit Ungarenethenes with full force and moderately wound him.
Ungarenethenes regenerates. Ungarenethenes decides to fight to the death
in a blind rage! Ungarenethenes breathes fire at you! You resist the searing
flames. Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes
misses you. Ungarenethenes critically hits you. Ungarenethenes fails to hurt
you. Ungarenethenes punches through your armor and hits you.
Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes hits you. The female ancient red
dragon breathes fire at you! Ungarenethenes resists the searing flames.
Ungarenethenes regenerates. Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes breathes
fire at you! You resist the searing flames. Ungarenethenes misses you.
Ungarenethenes misses you. Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes misses you.
Ungarenethenes hits you. Ungarenethenes misses you. Ungarenethenes hits
you.
Either I'm missing something, or there is something wrong somewhere.

18 attacks - two lots of 9 - looks like he got two moves in between your one due to comparative speed and/or the energy cost of your last move. Either way, I don't see why he was getting 9 attacks a round instead of 6.

That is what I'm afraid of - perhaps due to a bug it is now double attacks _and_ 1-3 extra on top.
I know I died to the cat lord twice in prereleases when the battle went from ~1/6 of my hp per turn to 1.5 of my hp (counting blessed AoLS) when he berserked.

And that's not only the cat lord, from my experience blind rage is now much more deadly than in 1.1.1.

Oops. I had to reopen this. There still was a mistake in the calculation of the maximum number of additional attacks. A bad one :-P
