NPC dialog on Quests too scarce
NPCs don't explain quest "Return successfully and ye will be rewarded."

(although it is listed as prerelease 20 it also did the same thing in the recommended version)

Talking to the NPCs in the first town I never realized any gave me a quest until I accidently hit 'q' and saw I had one.

For example. This time I talk to Guth'Alak the druid. The text goes like this
"You talk to Guth'Alak, the druid. (more)
"Return successfully and ye will be rewarded."

However, talking to him a few times I get the full dialog sometimes.
You talk to Guth'Alak, the druid. (more)
"Find the sinister cave Keethrax uses as a hideout." (more)
"It's located to the southeast." (more)
"Find Keethrax and slay him." (more)
"Return successfully and ye will be rewarded."

Writing this report and doing the testing it seems it's an intermittent bug. Everytime I've talked in town I now realize I only get the last sentance. At least this time, the 2nd time I talked to him I got the full message. This is not only for the druid, but also the other NPCs who give quests. I'll try to reproduce. Perhaps it's only on a new character entering town for first time (I tried leaving town and coming back and talking to them and got the full conversation).

I think it depends on what button you push for (more). If you push space bar, you should get the next line. If you push enter, it skips to the end. Something like that.

And you pegged it. If I hit <space> I see the text. If I hit <enter> I do not. Perhaps a comment about this somewhere in the tutorial would be nice. Thanks. Consider this closed.

Pressing Enter also suppresses the "you start to put on/take off the -item-" messages when equipping body armor. Very nice to use-identify many sets.

As a helpful note, you can press :m to see previous messages that you've missed.

Personally I think this is kinda confusing.

It's not confusing when you've been using it for a long time.
I kind of always knew that if I want to hear the whole thing, I need to press space for (more).
But since I've done the quests many times, I know exactly what they are about so I just press enter to skip the text.
I guess this knowledge should be presented somehow to new players but once you know it, it feels natural.

Could the (more) prompt say how many lines it is? So it says (more:4 lines) or something, and you'll know you skipped something when you only see one line?
Helpful for new players.

Do you want to read it? Press space. Do you want to skip it? Press return. If you think you should have read it press :m. Easy! :-)

Yeah - but new players don't necessarily know that :)

It would be nice to mention it in the manual certainly. But I guess noobs should be encouraged to read everything to begin with

I have added a hint in tutorial mode to explain how the (more) prompt handling works.
