Make vile spirits somewhat less dangerous

There have been many complaints about vile spirits. I have slightly reduced their power starting with R68. And strong vile spirits now are much rarer. Additionally they will now drop more treasures to make it even more worthwhile to fight them.

If feedback remains negative, I will continue working on this. Vile spirits are meant to be a fun challenge and not a constant annoyance.

I thought they were OK in power. I like the fact that there are some monsters you should RUN from at low levels!

Me too, I have yet to lose a character to vile spirits, and I quite like the challenge they present. That said, I'm pretty sure I'm a minority in thinking this.

For me they were fine as is. Game poses a lot more dangerous treats to PC's life and health.

Idk about you guys but I had a character kill keethrax and then proceed to get manhandled by a vile spirit in the next dungeon. I don't think a vile spirit should be harder than a boss monster especially considering that they both adjust to your level.

Also running into a vile spirit in the small cave basically means you can't go through it until much later.

I like the change.

I think your tolerance for vile spirits depends a lot on what classes you play. Against a Wizard/Priest/Archer? No problem. Against a Fighter? Bad news.

woohoo! yeah they really were unpredictable/out of depth
one game one of the first 5 enemies i saw was a vile spirt, surprised me and drained 6 St in one turn :<
they'd definitely be more enjoyable to me if there wasn't a chance they could jump a starting player and cut their strength in half, or have stat drain at all. thanks for the tweak
