Picking up an item in single select reduces the number of lines per page
The first item you pick up in single select reduces the number of items displayed per pick up page. Requires a pile of around 5 or more items to see this effect.

I don't quite understand the "shortens the pick up list" part?

Improved the wording of the title a bit.

The pick up menu initially has around 16 lines for displaying items (and item type headers). After picking up one item with single-select, the menu only has around 8 lines for displaying items, which can result in there being more pages of items after picking something up.
