I can see the details in the tiny map in the corner, but for some reason the main screen is all blacked out. I can't see any tiles, but I can barely make out the outline of my character and I can see the hp/pp bar above my head.

I've tried going to the level multiple times, and it keeps happening.
Every time I enter the level, I briefly see the "rough cave" tileset for the room I'm in, then I get the message about never finding the level again and it all goes black.
