If you save the game, spellbooks are sorted in alphabetical order with identified spellbooks first. If you drop and then pick up spellbooks, the order changes, with identified and unidentified spellbooks becoming mixed. If you just drop and pick up the identified spellbooks, the entire list will be sorted alphabetically, including the unidentified spellbooks (see screenshots).
