Happens in Windows 7 Home Premium(x64). I've tried reinstalling java and deleting the .jade directory.

I'm seeing the same thing (with the same log) after pressing z on the skill screen. I'm also on Windows 7. I overwrote v 0.1.0 and got some messages about folder backup the first time I ran it.
This seems to be a non-Mac problem as everything runs fine on my system. I am investigating it and will release JADE 0.1.2 as soon as I manage to fix this.
While you're on it, Thomas, you might want to check the routine that checks the keyboard inputs when done with allocating skill points. Pressing [Space] instead of z or Z when done allocating skill points crashes the game. (Win7, 64bit)

I can confirm that this is not a problem on Ubuntu 11.04 64bit.
And just to reiterate, character creation crashing isn't happening on Ubuntu 11.04 64bit, either. I just noticed that TB thinks it's a problem on all non-Mac systems, but I think it's Windows-specific.
