Blood decals remain when a lava tile is created.
When you create a lava tile on a floor section containing blood, the blood remains, blurring the lava effect

As in the summary. I've attached an example image, you can see the blood on the lower lava tile. Correct behaviour would remove decals from lava tiles.
Note that this also likely applies to water tiles.
