In the woods, as an archer trying to get logs to make ammo, I created a stack of three logs on the ground.

When I went to pick them up, the game froze with 'Several items are lying here.,' on the text
The three logs would likely have put my character in overburdened, or possibly unable to pick up at all.

Strength was 14, and was just shy of burdened.

Eventually hit enter, and got out.
Apparently the screen prompt for how many items to pick up was hidden, making it not clear what to do next.
