Death message popups too early
The death reason should be known first
When you die, the game pops up a sudden popup message without warning, before the player knows what kills him. Player death should be more like a slow realisation, not a sudden and rude popup. A solution would be adding a (more) prompt before announcing death:
The orcish warrior hits you, killing you! (more)

Or just make the way it is in ADOM, with no popup:
The orcish warrior hits you, killing you! You die... (more)
