Birth gifts should be useful, not trashed away at once
Why would a character start with a scroll of cure blindness, a potion of stun recovery or a ring of doom? You're supposed to be a hero, not a garbage collector...

Throw a potion of stun recovery at a stunned creature to cure it? Not useless if your companion gets stunned.

They don't cure monsters' stunning, although it definitely feels they should. They're good to obtain the "got the traders guild to owe him money" achievement though.
