When I playing ADOM, I link to my pc, in some way I associate it with myself (not a news, yeah? ;) ). Therefore I would like to have ability to select hair and eyes colors and such stuff (maybe including history etc). For me game becomes more interesting if I carefully choose my pc. Never clicked "random", when played such games, as Skyrim/Fallout etc. To add clear vision, how important it can be for players, I even roll starting picture until have something suitable, though it has no in game effect at all :)

P.S. Now to start a new game, I can spent up to hour until I have PC that I want - just because of rolling start pic and hair/eyes color. And there are still a big chance to loose this PC at the very beginning with roving barbarians or so
