ADOM, where the most commonly used letter in the alphabet is the explosive rune. - starfries
I play adom a lot. Maybe too much, even. But normal " choose race, choose class, play" games don't amuse me anymore - I prefer to roleplay characters from other games, comics, books. I have lots of fun that way and adom doesn't bore me at all - each gameplay is different that way and possibilites seem to be endless
I once made a post about "perfect looking ADOM in vista".
You could search it from this forum for some dosbox hints.
Rather people play on the server though, honestly. IRC
plus server play is the most fun that ADOM can be. As for
connection speed, if you have DSL, you are fine from the
states.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."
I still play ADOM like I did when I first discovered it. On and off just to pass the time. I never do any of it seriously so I have very few wins because I'm stuck in the eternal "learning" phase of ADOM. I just ask myself "what if?" and get my PCs killed. It's fun.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. If I knew scripture like you, I'd prolly be an athiest too.. -gut

Even though I don't play the game I still browse this forum daily.
I have all but stopped playing ADOM, to tell the truth. One reason why my blasted video series won't make any progress. (The other is my humongous laziness, of course.)
ADOM Guides - whatever you wanted to know about playing a certain class, but have been afraid to ask!
Check out my youtube channel to see my ADOM videos, including a completed playthrough of the game. I try to give instructions, so if you want to see some place you haven't been before and get some hints on how to deal with it, this might help! There's also some other games featured there that you might find interesting.
So far rolled 15 casters with RoDS and shamelessly killed them within 200 turns. For eternium glory!
(after 15 I stopped counting...)
Adom's the only game I still play where I don't quit in disgust because it doesn't reward skill. My next computer probably won't even have a dedicated graphics card.
I dub thee, 'necro' : )
