It does not matter as long as it's in the file and not in the same line as some other setting.

    What does persistence do?
When in darkness, you can always see the light (unless you're in ADOM)

Most successful combos for me: Grey elf wizards, trollish healers, dark elf beast-fighters, Gnomey monks, and any race barbarians.

It determines how long the images stay on screen. That means that if you're playing an archer, your missiles will go slower ( for your vision, not in game) if your persistence is high. However, high persistence also allows (sometimes) to see the monster which would have eescaped your attention without it, not a really common effect though. I'll stay with it low.

    You're thinking of Base_Delay_Factor.
Persistance, if memory serves, pertains to
    W5'ing.

Additional info: you can change these in-game,
via the ':=' command. You will have to be a top
notch speller though, as there is no interpretation.
"Whip me!" pleads the adom player. The rng replies... "No."

Base_delay_factor also affects bolts. I find them a tad too slow on default so lowered a little.

Persistence is how many "repeats" 'w' command makes, as gut said.

Got a great custom-made dwarfish barbarian that found 2 stable patches of stomma right next to each other (zapped a wand of door creating JIC) and an alter not too far away. Should I be selling the stomma and then sac the gold, or just sac the stommafilla and sell the stommaemptia for gold?

Edit: Oh yeah, this is my second precrown i'm going for, got hammerhead as first

Either you will not, or get the extremely close message.

Very odd behavior, I just got crowned at N-. Wonder how that happened........

Edit: Even odder, I found a level with a shop AND herbs. (although it was a pet shop) Thinking about getting a dark elven wizard pet.........
