Fighter and Paladin are pretty similar but Paladin has the advantage since they are very capable casters in the mid- to late-game.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. If I knew scripture like you, I'd prolly be an athiest too.. -gut

Well, that depends entirely on whether paladin gets justifier... if they do, they're nothing like fighters
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

Beasties have also the advantage of having magnificient crowning gifts. And are deadly with their hands. AND start with herbalism.
    Monks ar ebest with polemarms.

Won again. This is getting too easy

Won't post a new thread since this one had nothing too special. Dwarwen barbarian crowned with vanquisher and wearing robes of resistance from casino. Normal gate closing. Digged to the levers, killed balors with vanquisher almost dying to corruption. Meleed basically everything including archmage, catlord and the blue wyrm.

    Vanquisher makes everything easy. :b

You should try an assassin next imo. Still pretty easy but should provide some challenges depending your race/starsign choice.

Vanquisher doesn't make everything easy. I've found that using a two-hander limits the DV you can get so much that in many situations a good one-hander and a shield is much better. In my win I used big punch+protector much more than the vanquisher. Vanquisher really became feasible against really tough opponents when I had 800+ HP so I could just berserk+tremendous blow the tough monsters and know they wouldn't kill me in the rounds they get attacking me (It's really satisfying to hit a balor to critical in one blow and then chase him down as he's running away).

I was actually thinking a hurtling ranger for my next, with a couple limitations to get more challenge. Although this would also work with an assassin.

1: Only knives and daggers in melee and thrown rocks as missiles (good bye slaying ammo and potions of blindness, welcome neeble and sting). BTW can you poison rocks?

2: No starvation or sickness to increase stats, no good learner talent, no killing ubermonsters with darkness nor any other such borderline exploits.

    3: No gambling in Casino.

4: No carrying RNG fodder, which is to say that everything I carry must be realistically usefull at some point

5: no extensive grinding. Herbs for stats and some spence is okay. Stoma for crowning is okay. Stoma for precrowns, stairhopping id, pickpocketing gremlins and the like are forbidden.

If someone has any other ideas for making the game a bit more challenging, realistic (in it's own context), but not extreme feel free to make suggestions (or make up a name for this challenge game and start a new thread). Also if a challenge game similar to this already exists please tell me about it and I'll try that.

Try a DE Thief. You can realistically get their toughness below 10. The starting game is exceptionally hard at that point.

I'va actually once started a GE wizzy with ST 2. That was interesting. But really I'm not looking for extremely difficult, I'm looking for a bit more difficult through the whole game (not just early game).

I really like these restrictions. In fact, in my current game I have imposed some very similar restrictions on myself. It gets boring how the same blinding potions and slaying ammo make any hard fight easy, doesn't it?

One additional rule in the same spirit that I could think of is: no 7LB / Hack 'n Back technique. (Hit, step back, wait for monster, repeat).
You steal a scroll labelled HITME. The orc hits you.
