    Default eternal gaurdian madness

I zap, he moves, a duplicate immediately replaces him.
I get no time to tp to the stairs. Speed was at 100, so
no problem there. In the end, I had generated over a
dozen of them and just suicided in discust, as my turn
count was destroyed. I was doomed, but had no way
of removing it. Never had that happen before, and
wondered if it was something obvious that I never
    learned.

I had the exact same thing happen to me once on a delf mincrafter. Tried zapping and all sorts or trics but I couldn't figure out how to pass him and created several copies while trying. After a while I gave in and lugged all the wood to make a bridge to get that damned ring - but the peacefull guardian didn't move nowhere before the angry ones were dealt with.

Ended up dying after trying to fight those beasts for too long..

e: And I was not doomed, atleast iirc.

    -this always happens, he's eternal.
once i had an altar on his level and sacced a few guardians, that was fun and got me a couple of free levels

with my true beserker i thought he was a assassin/sage/wizard and ran into him, had to put his clone down with poison and hit and retreat tactics.

Yeah, this happened to me on my one speedrun attempt. There was only a space to slip by on the first clone generation. I ended up having to fetch the ring and then return to pass the peaceful one, but not before having to Acid Ball the rest of them. Very very annoying. I don't believe I was doomed, but I would like to know how speedrunners usually deal with the guardian.

I managed to kill 3 Eternal Guardians on an old troll beastfighter... Good times... Didn't even know about the ring of the High Kings at that point.

It always happens if there's more than one alive, but if it didn't give you a chance to pass him on the first time, that's weird. Maybe he was generated with an abnormally high speed or something?

Did you check the EG's speed, gut? Maye he had 102 or so and you got very unlucky with the turn order. I always pass him hostilely with speedrunners and never have a problem, but then I usually have at least 110 speed.

this is the first time it had ever happened to me, and
I've passed him countless dozens of times. hasn't
    happened since either.
