Offering confusion

I was just sacrificing some gold to boost piety as part of a test, and I had something very odd happen. I was a crowned L+ char who had closed the gate successfully.

You see an ancient altar of pure white marble.
How many (ENTER = 100630000)?
You feel as if transgressing some law. You sense a conflict between supernatural entities.
Shalla and Auroree seem to be quarreling for supremacy!
Auroree triumphes!
You hear the angry wail of Shalla.
The altar glows in a gray shine.
The 100530000 gold pieces are engulfed by gray mist and disappear.
You see an ancient altar of gray granite.

Why would a lawful person making a sacrifice on a lawful alter be giving it to the neutral god? I knew that kinda thing could happen with live sacrifices, but gold?

the amount might have been so large it made the L diety angry, thus
counting as a chaotic act? I've never seen that before...

Hey, I just had something similar happen (with a smaller amount of gold, even). This happened with a very recently downloaded & installed linux version of ADOM. Maybe it's a new bug?

I was going to offer my full stack of 2.1 Billion gold, but couldn't be bothered teleporting across the level to get it

Dos 1.1.1, I'm torn between doing more testing or just pretending it never happened. I might load some different games and see if I can replicate it on a different character. Shall have to wait till after work though...
