... That's how doors with locks usually work?
When I read the title I was like "...What?".
Imagine having a handle and a keyhole on both sides of the door.
Pretty wild huh?
Actually in ADOM doors are locked from all 8 sides.
I'm still not sure how lock picks can be used to lock doors though.

You also can't unlock a door with just a pick either... you need a tension wrench too.
See here. The two on the right side are tension wrenches, the third one from right side is your classical lockpick.
But if you have both then yes, pick+wrench can be used to lock and unlock doors. Theres not really a difference between locking and unlocking; just just turn the wrench the other way around, just like you would do with a normal key.
@gut: that picture of an eightsided door is wrong too, because a) theres no room to stand "in" the door while its closed and b) theres only one lock not eight.
