How I died the last couple of days

No he is not too hard, as long as you are careful.

Just look out for his speed and the damage he can do. As he gets really fast and does lots of damage. If you get him off his current level you can tp around. But he is hard to spell in the level before him, as it is a big open room and he moves like a killer bug on crack. It's better if you can get him in a corridor.

Edit* I always fight him close to the stairs. That way if he starts whopping me I can go up/down the stairs and tp away.

how i died last night.

mega gnome wiz, all ultra'd up, fighting andy, forgot to remove the helm/ammy (DOOOOOOM) and got paralyzed and killed by a summoned balor.

this char had done everything in the game too, first kill raider lord, saved puppy, all side quests, done high lkings, darkforge, toeflames and mino maze *before* even entering the caverns of chaos at lvl 28..
Four truely exciting vaults, precrowned with fine leather and sapphire ammy, mana battery from first corrption got pp to around 2000 for final dive.

so yeah, will remember to ditch the doom next time..

Just about the only thing on the list of common deaths that I, curiously enough, have managed to avoid, is the cat lord. So, in hopes of keeping this question as off-topic as it currently is, does anyone have any practical experience with a 40 kitty corpses cat lord? Advice to share?

I really had trouble with him, probably being the most dangerous foe I have encountered so far. I ended up saccing him because I couldn't come up with a better tactic and there was an altar two levels above. Getting xp from killing him would have been quite useful to me, but better to be alive than dead I guess..

I have new respect for wands of wonder. Amazing how little actual spell knowledge you need to turn a fight into a curbstomp. 8 points of Web (no book, no wand) and two potions of blindness and 12 poisoned quarrels of slaying were enough after all.

I just killed cat lord with 36 dead felines. One cast of web and 10 humanoid slaying arrows did the trick.

Ha! Mixed tension room on Mana Temple level. Teleportation my arse.

Several skeletal kings had joined in the fun. There was little enough room to maneuver as it is and I had already managed to survive a case of confusion with the greater moloch all up in my business, but I had it down to critically injured. Then rather than attacking and hopefully killing the damn thing I just moved next to it like an idiot.

The game had already been trying to kill me, in retrospect, but a greater titan threat room hadn't proved enough since I just abused the water orb for all its worth and farmed the XP. Since I had Kinslayer and intrinsic death ray resistance it knew Nuurag-Vaarn would be little trouble on his own, so it decided to get creative.
