Doing an ULE without any form of corruption removal is something that I've attempted every once in a while, and now completed. I decided early on to do it with a monk, so played with the additional restriction of never carrying any money. I technically failed at this second goal, since I twice picked up some goal by accident when scooping dragon loot. I had no advantage from it, though. I picked Drakeling as the race because of food preservation, acid spit and music. Cup was my starsign of choice, because I had learned from past attempts that gaining experience was going to be a big problem.
The early part of the game was eventless. I scummed the druid dungeon for a slug corpse to get acid immunity. Darkforge contained Wyrmlance and Serpent's Bite and Moon Sickle was above Khelly, so there were plenty of artifacts to choose from. I used Wyrmlance as my primary weapon throughout the game and also decided to keep Serpent's Bite. This was a mistake, as I should have given it to the ratling and then sacrifice the torc for an alignment boost. I found the items needed for the medal, but when I was converting back to lawful, I got my inventory cursed. The only scroll of uncursing I had seen in the entire game was in a shop in ToHK, so I had to walk there and back just to steal this fairly common item. Some other similar stupidities meant that I reached day 90 immediately after the tower, which of course made the rest of the game more challenging.
I got a wish from a pool and used it to save Khelly. I was crowned with robes of resistance and lightning immunity. The tower was easy, the ACW died after three hits with Wyrmlance. After that, I dived to the earth temple and cleared most of it while wearing boots of the slow shuffle. This got me the level 25 class power, making it possible to switch places with hostile monsters. BDC, AWK and the mana temple were up next. I cleared the air temple on the way up, but some exploding fire trap killed the master summoner, denying me of badly needed xp. I killed the water dragon to make up for it and did the rift for some useful spells, most notably slow monster (for me), invisibility (for monsters), strength of atlas and magic map. I was still some way from level 45, and my speed was nearly 140 even with the boots. I killed the casino staff and found bracers of war in the shop. There were no vaults at all below the wall of flames, so I went back down to the dragon caves, clearing a room of titans on the way. After killing a total of 74 ancient blue dragons, I finally levelled up and could take off the boots and stop casting slow monster and invisibility.
Filk was killed with acid ball. The emperor moloch was troublesome at first, but got insta-killed with the monk class power. By this time I had both corruptions needed for the quickling tree, but didn't want to risk getting more corrupted just to increase my already high speed. I rushed down to D49 and drank all stat potions and read scrolls of defense and protection. To my horror, I realised that I had no source of paralyzation resistance. Oh well, too late to turn back now. In an ironical twist, I found my only pair of 7LB next to the entrance on D50. No point in using them now. I switched places to the portal and entered the chaos plane. I was too excited to remember to drink my boost speed potions for a while, but it didn't really matter. I threw a potion of cure corruption at Andy and then killed him with the trident. I think I had 13 or 14 corruptions in the end.
