Just thought of another question I might aswell slide into here since it sort of pertains to this death. How effective is the stun ray spell/wand against the ACW and also paralyzation wand? I don't think I've ever tried it, I think that I must have concluded that those spells suck in my younger more naive adom playing day, back before I even realized how much potions of confusion can destroy.

Wands of paralyzation are amazing. You just need to keep trying, reloading with booze if need be. You only need one shot to stick to render the ACW completely helpless, leaving you free to berserk it into mush. They work on every boss too. Eventually.

Stun Ray and wands of stunning are similar, except a successful stun isn't nearly as amazing as a successful paralyzation. (Just like blindness or confusion, the ACW is rendered staggering for a few turns, making it a safe target for ranged attacks.) The Stun Ray spell can be trained to high efficiency, which makes it more likely to stick than just a wand or the low level spell.
