    Default YAVP Gray Elven Wizard UNE

    Kiltirae, the gray elven wizard has been lifted to the status of an Avatar of Balance and the
    tales of his deeds have been spread all over Ancardia.

    After doing the usual early game stuff and obtaining Ironfist at some point in the UD, Kiltirae had a difficult time saving Khelavaster. He dried all pools in the game (obtaining +Invis), digged great treasures tombs and stole an unidentified ring right before the eyes of a certain water dragon, but no luck. He was about to give up, but in the end he decided to raid the Library looking for a spellbook of Wish (thanks Soirana for the idea). Once having the spellbook, Kiltirae descended deep into the Infinite Dungeon and toughened up by killing molochs, titans and its greatest counterparts; and some ancient karmic dragons.

    Once he felt mighty enough, on a beautiful silver night he casted the longed for spell (at the cost of a good chunk of his willpower) and proceeded to save the ancient sage. The temples went down smoothly. The Ancient Chaos Wyrm only hit Kiltirae once with an energy bolt. After that, he was stunned and lightning ball'ed to death. At the air temple, some karmic dragons (I don't remember if they were ancient or not) were summoned, which changed a little the plan to acid ball the whole thing. The Master Summoner fell soon after reaching him and later the dragons were finished with Magic Missile. The Mana Temple was cleaned with 2-range acid balls, after disabling the Archmage with a potion of blindness.

    The stuff required for the Gaab'bay quests was obtained without much trouble, except for the farmer corpse. There was only one farmer at the HMV and he didn't leave one. Then, at Terinyo, the farmers wouldn't follow Kiltirae out of the village (as they couldn't see him because of permainvis). The solution was to lure Khelavaster to the bandit village and then slaughter the farmers until a corpse was eventually obtained.

    Srraxxarrakex died after having to flee back to change the armor and put on a blue dragon scale mail. Filk was found at I:25. Keriax and the Emperor Moloch were killed with Acid Ball (the former was disabled with a potion as well).

    Later on, Guth'Alak was un-hostilled by commanding a magebane eye to attack him. After this, the only things worth mentioning are the visit to the quickling tree (completely naked) and the murder of the white unicorn in exchange of some potions of gain attributes.

    Lastly, the final dive to D:50 was done, carrying the medal and crown of chaos and the boots of great speed. D:50 was cleaned up completely with Acid Ball. After waiting up some turns to get extremely corrupted, all potions of boost were quaffed, speed was wished for (for a total of about 500) and the gate of chaos was crossed wearing the two required chaos pieces and the TotRR. Once at the Chaos Plane, the corrupting artifacts were removed and dropped. 5 SoCR were read in order to remove the nastiest corruptions and, with 8 SoCR left, Kiltirae teleported himself next to Andor Drakon and berserked him using the TotRR all the way. During the fight 4 or 5 corruptions kicked in. The only one worth removing was stiffened muscles. In the end, Andor Drakon perished and Kiltirae was lifted to the status of a demi-god Avatar of Balance.

    Scummy tactics used:

    • Pickpocketing.
    • 600 000 casino gold to buy stuff from the shop.
    • Making monsters invisible while leveling up at the ID.
    • A little bit of stair-hopping hoping for *THUMB* or tension room messages.
    • Un-hostilling Guth'Alak using a pet.
    • Starsign selector and character roller.

    Well done. 98 Mana is impressive. What were your weapon skills at? You melee'd him to death? I've not done an ultra, but I'd imagine it's difficult to melee him on a wizard. And how long did this take (in game time)?

    Melee is no harder as a wizard than as most other classes--with 58 strength and an uber slaying weapon, most PCs would make short work of him. Acid ball might kill him quicker, but probably not substantially so.

    The only classes that actually have a lot of problems with killing AD in melee are beastfighters and thieves. Beastfighters have a hard time hitting with the ToTRR, and thieves' stunning blow class power makes him wander around randomly and it's hard to chase him in the Chaos plane. Beasties also have a stunning blow power, now that I think of it, which makes it doubly annoying for them.

    Thanks. 98 Mana comes from the effect of the boosting potions, I guess. Actually, I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out .

    I had level 9 with polearms. The fight is long, but it's not difficult at all. He just hit me a couple of times and drained some stats (not really a problem because at this point you quaff all the boosting potions you've been saving all game). The main difficulties here are corruption (if you are lacking means of removal). When doing an UNE or a UCG you have to be extremely corrupted (16 corruptions iirc) when entering the chaos plane. This means that you will need about 9 SoCR to remove them all, less SoCR to remove just some of them (in my game the first 5 or 6 corruptions weren't too bad and I just let them be). During the fight other 5 corruptions kicked in so, depending if you are lucky with the order of the corruptions, you may need a lot of SoCR or not. This may be even worse for UCG endings, I don't know.

    The other main difficulty for this fight is stupidity. You shouldn't forget to equip any of the required items when entering the chaos plane, be sure you have -Deth resistance and be wielding the ToTRR when the killing blow is delivered.

    Acid ball was my original plan but, in the end, as meleeing was working good, I decided to keep going like that and not raise his speed at all, just in case.
    1 ULE, 1 UNE, 18 regular endings. Won with every race. Trying to win with every class. Never won with farmer, merchant, mindcrafter and thief.
