    Default First Win: Human Druid

Druids are an amazing class. They seem to have both the melee power of beastfighters and the the same attunement with magic as wizards. During this game, there were bee hives generated in strange places. One of them was inside the moat of the Water Temple, another on the Elemental Anomaly level, and another on D: 50. With an arduous effort, I attempted to fit all the information into a few posts, but it's going to take 7. 3 of them are from the FLG, and the other 4 are from the log file (During each game, I keep a log file to keep track of what happens during the game). Sorry for making it a long read, but it should contain all of the information that you could possibly want to know.

Edit: I should probably mention that the win was a normal one- handling both levers to close the gate, and leaving the level. Though you could probably figure that out from my ADOM experience (_first_ win) and from the log.

    Start Date: June 4, 2012
Death Date: June 29, 2012 (won)
    Race: Human
    Class: Druid

I was born in the month of the Candle. So I heal faster, use up less piety per prayer, and get one free talent. I started out with the Mad Carpenter quest. My first kill was a skeleton. The ADOM manual says that it is said that no animal will willingly attack a druid. Well, it's true! My alignment went down to N- from N= because I accidentally attacked a rattlesnake in the dark. I completed the Mad Carpenter quest without any problems. I went back to VD: 7 to finish exploring it. A flesh golem attacked me and it is dominating. Thankfully, I have the Cure Light Wounds spell. I was able to manage to run away from it and escape.

This is the first game ever where I've had food problems. I'm hungry, on PC: 2, and have no food or scrolls of satiation with me. Then I became very hungry. Luckily, I found an orc corpse just in the nick of time. On PC: 3, I found a neutral altar. Last time I checked, jackals were animals, but they are hostile to me despite that. I just finished spending some time on PC: 5 and am now on PC: 6. The food problems I was having earlier were temporary. PC: 5 provided me with plenty of food. My spellbooks are getting heavy, so I went to VD: 1 and stored them one square away from the stairs. I also stored my cute dog corpse there. I don't want to be lawful quite yet.

On PC: 3 I received messages indicating a royal vault, so I read random scrolls in hopes of finding one of magic mapping. I did, but not before finding one of amnesia. I dug in using a pick axe. I talked to the royal guardian to see what would happen. He became hostile! There's a neutral altar on this level, and royal guardians are lawful, so I will just lure him to the altar and sacrifice him. I made 4260 gold pieces from the vault. On PC: 5, I noticed that rats were hostile to me. I put the pieces together and inferred that summoned creatures are hostile to Druid PC's, but normal animals aren't. Animals in tension rooms seem to always be hostile also.

PC: 5 was overflowing with corpses. I sacrificed some of my food and I felt an inner strength lifting my spirits. I gained the Lucky intrinsic. I went back to the Village Dungeon and gained castings for a lot of my spells. I ate a large spider corpse and gained poison resistance. In Lawenilothehl, I learned the Detect Traps skill. I didn't have enough money for the Pick Locks or Disarm Traps skills, which I would've liked to have, but I don't need those at all. I can continue without them. I completed the Puppy Cave quest, and my alignment changed to LN.

I was going to go to the Old Barbarian's Glade to start the Courage quest, but believe it or not, I've only killed 416 monsters! I passed the Old Barbarian's Glade and headed to the Caverns of Chaos. While descending the Caverns of Chaos, I started to have food problems again. Thankfully I made it to the Arena on D: 4. All I had left was one herb seed. I bought 75 cooked lizards and 54 fried bats. Fried bats have about 1/5 the satiation value of cooked lizards, and cooked lizards have the same satiation value as iron rations. The Big Room was on D: 6. I came across a caveman statue that a ratling warlord dropped. I kicked it to pieces, but all it yielded was 5 rocks. D: 8 was the si level. I had to find a secret door before finding the si, but I did find it.

Dwarftown was generated on D: 9. Thrundarr's quest was to slay a ratling thief. I should be able to find one extremely easily in the Big Room. I killed the mimic in Waldenbrook's shop without any problems. I noticed a potion of cure corruption being sold in there for only 3279 gold pieces. I should definitely remember that. I stored some of my items in the room above Dwarftown to free up weight and space in my inventory. I locked a door, so the only accessible part of this level is the rooms with the staircases and the corridor connecting them. The entire Big Room only had one 2x2 herb patch in it. That's not very much compared to the usual amount. It will still suffice, though. Somehow, the 2x2 herb patch in the Big Room was destroyed. I was hearing a distant wind, but never came across a vortex. My guess is that an animal tried to attack a fire vortex. The animals in this level have frequently been attacking non-animals.

I found a ratling thief corpse, but no ratling thief yet. Does a ratling master thief count? The Big Room seems to be pacified because only non-hostile animals are in there now. I'll have to go somewhere else to find a ratling thief. I went to the Old Barbarian's Glade and started the Courage quest. I've killed 59 skeletons so far and need to kill 20 more for a total of 79. I went to the Pyramid because I've not yet found a climbing set this game. I just grabbed the tools and left. Then I went to the Tomb of the High Kings, seemingly the ideal place to find Thrundarr's random creature. Going there probably wasn't the best idea. The monsters generated there are out of depth for my level. For example, when I hit an iron golem with full force, I slightly wound it. All of my hits except for that one don't damage it. Probably because of its 18 PV. The best place to find a ratling thief would be the Infinite Dungeon. That will entail a long wilderness trek. 13 days later, I made it to the Infinite Dungeon.

I spent quite a bit of time in the Infinite Dungeon, but could not find a ratling thief. I'll probably have better luck on PC: 5. I went to Lawenilothehl to do Tywat Pare's Hotzenplotz quest. He and his two bouncers were easily killed. PC: 5 wasn't a good place to find a ratling thief. Each and every single monster on that level is non-hostile, and monster generation has stopped because of the maximum monster limit. The level is filled with green worms! I guess I'll try the Infinite Dungeon again. On I: 1, there was a mimic. What's next, an emperor lich in the Village Dungeon? Sure enough, I found a ratling thief and killed it, finally completing my quest. It could have been far worse, though. By now, I've killed more than enough skeletons to complete the Courage quest. I talked to the Old Barbarian and gained the Courage skill.

I began Thrundarr's next quest, to find the Animated Forest. On D: 13, I ate an ankheg corpse and gained acid resistance. As usual, in the Animated Forest, over half of the squares around me were filled with hostile animated trees rather than nonhostile ones. I had to cast Darkness so I could kill the tree that was standing on the stairs, but I did manage to make it past the forest. On D: 15, a gorgon was generated. Other powerful monsters, like an ogre lord and a stone golem, were also generated. I had trouble killing these creatures without using magic, so I had to use magic. Part of the reason is that I haven't found a good weapon yet this game. The highest damaging one I have is a battle axe that does 1d6+5 damage. I trudged back through the Animated Forest and talked to Thrundarr. He gave me a marble wand, which is a blessed wand of fireballs with twelve charges.

Thrundarr's next quest was to vanquish the Ogre Tribe below Dwarftown. I completed that quest without a problem and earned 5000 gold pieces. I started Thrundarr's next quest, to become the champion of the Arena. The 20th fight was against Spardakius, the minotaur. I won the fight without a problem. For completing the quest, Thrundarr gave me 8 bandages, a waterproof blanket, a fireproof blanket, a ring of fire resistance, a blubbery potion (potion of gain attributes), a rusty potion (potion of ultra healing), 5 blue potions (potions of extra healing), and a scroll labeled "CUTME" (a scroll of familiar summoning). I traded the Golden Gladius for training from Bart. By now, my alignment is L+. I completed the Greater Daemon quest by sacrificing it, and that went well, but my perception was drained from 13 to 10.

Thrundarr gave me some equipment to assist me in completing the Portal quest. One of the items was a cursed fire opal ring. What could it be? By now, I'm 3 days past the 90 day limit. I paid Garth 22500 gold pieces to train perception, which is at 13 right now, with a ceiling of 13 also. I plan to loiter around in the wilderness until I'm closer to level 17, so I can maximize my chances of success in the Pyramid. There are about 11000 more experience points until I reach level 17.

With a little help from the useful Summon Monsters spell, I became 416 experience points from level 17. I entered the Pyramid. While in the Pyramid, I reached level 17 after killing a spectre. I decided to use only magic while on the upper level of the Pyramid so I can dual wield two shields. In Coward mode with these two shields, I have 74 DV and 23 PV. Killing everything on that level was extremely easy. I didn't lose even 1 HP the entire time. Rehetep was destroyed by one cast of Baptism of Fire. Prior to that, he shrugged off 7 fire bolts. I found quite a gem on that level- a medium eternium shield [+12, +3]. I drank some carrot juice and improved my perception to 18 (with a maximum of 18) from 14.

I dug a path outside of the border of the Animated Forest and sealed both ends off with doors in order to make the trek through the Animated Forest go much more quickly and smoothly. I plan to go to the Water Temple now. On D: 16, I obtained a corruption. It was a mild corruption- antennae that explore the details of my environment and decrease my appearance by 4. On D: 16, I encountered Khelavaster. Although he is mortally wounded, he is still very powerful. In fact, he resisted whenever I tried to switch places with him! I'm not going to waste my time trying to find an amulet of life saving. I chatted with Khelavaster and picked up the items that he dropped. For future reference, a silver amulet is an amulet of protection and a softwood wand is a wand of digging (yes, I _still_ hadn't come across a wand of digging).

On D: 17, the Caverns of Chaos Graveyard, there was also an ant hive. For some reason, they were hostile to me. On D: 18, there was a chaotic altar. My plans to go to the Water Temple have been postponed until I can complete the Portal quest. While identifying armor, I equipped one with the 'trapped' prefix. It modified DV by -1 and PV by +9, so it's not bad, but it is made out of adamantium, making it nigh impossible to destroy. 25 runs under acid and fire traps did nothing to damage it. Now I have no source of resistance to death rays, no source of immunity to cold attacks, and source of seeing invisible things. Before going to the Dwarven Graveyard, I'm going to obtain the Ring of the High Kings. Correction: actually, I have an amulet of death ray resistance.

The skeletal king was destroyed, albeit with a little trouble. I was brought down to 76 HP, but continued baptizing it in fire. I was worried that another critical hit would kill me. Now I have a source of cold resistance, and can complete the Portal quest without any problems. I also found a helmet of water breathing, so I am going to stop by the water dragon's lair first. After talking to Shyssiryxius, I left the lair and talked to Blup. I then completed the Portal quest without any problems. Now I am going to go to the Water Temple. I absorbed about 4-5 corrupting hits, but obtained the Chaos Orb of Elemental Water easily otherwise. There was a bee hive inside the moat of the Water Temple. The bees, for some reason, were hostile to me. How peculiar! I obtained a lump of bee wax and gelee royal, which is good, because I thought I'd have to go back to the Puppy Cave to get bee wax, since I don't have any means of deafness. On D: 21, there was a lawful altar. In the dungeons, I found a blessed girdle of giant strength. What a boon!

On D: 22, there was another bee hive. I didn't get gelee royal this time, only bee wax. On D: 22, I gained another corruption. I grew 12 eyes, increasing my perception by 6 and decreasing by appearance by 6. There was also a scroll shop on D: 22. On D: 23, there was another bee hive. I got a lump of bee wax, but no gelee royal. D: 24 was the Banshee's level. I destroyed the Banshee very easily. There was a neutral altar on D: 24. On D: 27, I came across the wall of searing flames. I am now going to go to the Tower of Eternal Flames.

I found a spell book of Revelation. When I cast the spell, I discovered that my intrinsics are fire resistance, poison resistance, acid resistance, lucky, and Fate smiles. I gain 1 HP every 38 turns and 1 PP every 42 turns. I went back to D: 18 because I have some items I want to drop on a non-lawful altar in order to curse them. I walked onto the chaotic altar and dropped 7 of my 9 uncursed potions of invisibility onto it. I received the message, "A voice booms: "*GET YOUR JUNK OFF MY ALTAR*" I thought dropping items on a non-aligned altar cursed them. I tried dropping a potion of holy water onto it, but the same thing happened, and the water was still holy. The neutral altar that was a little deeper down the Caverns of Chaos yielded a distant rumble for both 7 potions of invisibility and a potion of holy water. The items' statuses were unchanged. The only potent potion to throw at the Ancient Chaos Wyrm that I have is a cursed potion of sickness. How am I supposed to get a potion of unholy water, anyway? I also have a potion of cure corruption from a drop. I read that that deals about 200 damage (half of the Ancient Chaos Wyrm's 400 HP) to the Ancient Chaos Wyrm. I can always use that if I get in a tight spot.

On D: 8, I stashed some items that I won't take into the tower and prepared for the fight. I will do some close combat with Big Punch, but will mostly use Nether Bolt. Against the Ancient Chaos Wyrm, I will use a thrown cursed potion of sickness, a thrown uncursed potion of cure corruption if necessary, Nether Bolt, a wand of webbing, maybe a wand of magic missiles, and maybe a wand of stunning. I plan to wear a +2 PV mithril cap (will swap for blessed helm of mental stability when I reach the Wyrm), the ankh, my trapped chain mail [-1, +9], a +2 PV mithril girdle, Big Punch (will swap for a shield before I reach the top level), another shield, ring of the High Kings, blessed ring of regeneration, the elemental gauntlets, and the Chaos Orb of Elemental Water in the tool slot. I lack a ring of ice and I only have one fireproof blanket (blessed). In Coward, I am 78/27.

On TF: 1, there was a lawful altar. On TF: 2, I lost my blessed fireproof blanket. Oh no, how could such a thing happen!? I was lucky, had Fate Smiles, and had the hidden luck from the Ankh. I moaned in despair as I trekked on through the burning Hell. I have 9 potions of invisibility; if there's ever a time to drink them, it's now. Exploring is prohibited. In as little time as possible, I need to kill the Wyrm and leave the tower. I lost many scrolls, including my blessed scroll of familiar summoning.

On TF: 3, I lost my 2 blessed scrolls of identify, my only 2 wands of webbing, my uncursed potion of cure corruption, 5 pick axes, some scrolls, some potions, some wands (including one wand of stunning), and a few other things.

On TF: 4, I lost 3 blessed potions of extra healing, my other wand of stunning, my lump of gelee royal, one of my two remaining pick axes, a potion of raw chaos, and some other things.

Then I started to dig a tunnel with my sole source of digging- a blessed pick axe. I lost 2 blessed spenseweeds while digging it. While digging, I woke up a stone giant, and by George, you wouldn't believe what it dropped- a gray slayer statue. I went into berserk mode so I could kick it down faster, but it only yielded rocks. I continued to dig. I finally pierced the interior of the right side of the level. The most vile sight I've ever seen before appeared! The Ancient Chaos Wyrm, a disgusting, chaotic purple W. It was 6 squares to the right and 1 below me. In Coward mode with my dual-wielded shields, my DV/PV is 100/29.

The fight begins! I never got a chance to throw my cursed potion of sickness at the Wyrm because it was destroyed by the tower's heat. During the fight, I was hit in melee by the Wyrm, and gained the corruption that makes your corrupted tissue heal much faster, but reduces your dexterity. During the fight, I used a total of 2 potions of extra healing and 4 prayers. I would've only needed 3 prayers, but Onn gave me a pick axe after one of them (my one remaining pick axe was destroyed during the fight, so I didn't have any when I prayed). The Wyrm succombed to repeated castings of Nether Bolt. I gained 78179 experience points from the kill.

I gained 78179 experience points! More than enough to bring me to level 22! I waited for the Ancient Chaos Wyrm corpse to cook from the tower's heat. Then I became visible, and I'm out of potions of invisibility. I began descending the tower. To my dismay, right after making it to TF: 3, my cooked Ancient Chaos Wyrm corpse was destroyed. On TF: 3, I lost 2 potions of holy water. On TF: 1, I lost my potion of longetivity and another potion of holy water. I stopped by the altar and discovered that I was still at the 'very close' level of piety.

I finally made it out of the tower. I'm badly scarred (not only from the corruption) from the encounter and lost a ton of equipment, but I made it past what is considered the most difficult hurdle of the game, and for the first time ever. I lost all of my scrolls in the tower (but I stashed some in the Caverns of Chaos, including scrolls of identify) and the only potions that remain are a potion of holy water, an uncursed potion of cure poison, 5 blessed potions of booze, and 5 blessed potions of extra healing.

I now plan to go to the Casino. On D: 26, there was a neutral altar. The eternal guardian was on D: 29. I have the ring of the High Kings, so I have nothing to worry about. On D: 30, I ate a frost giant berserker corpse and gained cold resistance. There was a frost giant vault on that level. I reached the Casino on D: 31. Somehow, I ended up stunned. I looked through my messages and it said, "You are stunned due to lack of food." After some time, I received the message, "You feel clear again." Needless to say, I have my ring of stun resistance on now. After more gambling, a lack of food made me stunned again! I've also had Big Punch (which grants stun resistance) on for the entire time I was gambling, but still always get stunned. I sacrificed 1.8 million gold pieces to Onn and reaches the 'absolutely close' level of piety. I prayed and received acid immunity. My crowning gift was the Staff of the Wanderer. How useless. I sold it for 51096 piety gold. I already have amulets of order identified, but this one is just marked as a blessed marble amulet.

I gained another corruption- the thorny hands one. The only way it affects me is the loss of 2 dexterity. On D: 32, there was a neutral altar. While on D: 32, I received the message, "You sense a rupture in the spiritual aura of this place!" It's a moloch! About 10 lightning bolts took it out, and it never got into melee range. The ladder farther to the right is the one that leads up to the Casino. On D: 34, I reached the Battle Bunny level. I dug a corridor south with my pick axe and killed Bugs and the bunnies very easily. On D: 35, I received a message indicating the presence of a greater vault. It was filled with fire creatures. While clearing the vault, I gained another corruption. I have become extremely thin and nimble. I weigh half as much and it adds 6 DV. While clearing the vault, I also lost 2 mana points because I kept exhausting myself to kill ancient red dragons and red dragons with Nether Bolt. I gained 1512966 experience points from killing Keredetiussanavus, the great red wyrm. It brought me from level 27 to level 31. He dropped an artifact, Long Sting, the jet-black glaive. I used almost all of my Nether Bolt castings up, and haven't even cleared the vault yet. I lost my girdle of giant strength and a lot of equipment from the fire. I'm nearing overburdened status.

I went back up to the casino and bought some books of Nether Bolt to restore my castings. I went back up to the lawful altar to analyze and sort my items. While returning to my descent, there was a dorn beast on the Banshee level, D: 24. I wisely equipped my amulet of free action and killed it. The message I received while killing it was, "You stare into one of the Dorn Beast's 69 eyes and resist. You hit the Dorn Beast and slay it. [+3212xp]."

On D: 36, I reached the Cat Lord level. I haven't killed any cats, so I have nothing to worry about. I now have the ring of the master cat! On D: 38, there was a chaotic altar, a vault, and a tension room. I didn't bother to deal with any of those dungeon features. I ate a blue dragon corpse and gained intrinsic shock resistance. The air temple level was on D: 40. While sorting through my equipment, I made a surprising and pleasant discovery. I can't remember where, but somewhere I found an artifact- the rune-covered sling Whirlwind. I think it may have been on the same level as the greater vault. I dropped equipment that I deemed vulnerable on the level above and proceeded to begin to make my way toward the air temple. My means of healing are pretty scant- 2 uncursed crystals of health and the Chaos orb of Elemental Water. I have prayer, also. Just as I was about to descend, I gained the teleportitis corruption. I need to get teleport control as soon as possible!

I vanquished Yulgash and his minions without ever going below 400 HP. I had to exhaust myself about 3 times during the fight, but that was it. Luckily nothing too nasty was summoned. On D: 41, there was a tension room. Guess where my teleportitis took me? Right in the middle of said tension room. The monsters there were pretty harmless, though. On D: 42, there were many herbs, and I gathered many pepper petals and some spenseweeds. D: 43 was the Earth Temple. While in the Earth Temple, I gained a corruption. I'm 1/10 the weight, minus 6 strength, +4 dexterity -6 toughness and appearance, +20 speed.

The Earth Temple was pretty challenging. Getting surrounded by stone grues and earth elementals was inevitable. I had to retreat to the stairs and the level above that in order to recharge my PP, and my HP also. After going back to where I had previously explored, I shortly found the Ancient Stone Beast. I lured it up to the level above so I wouldn't have to deal with as many other creatures at the same time. The Ancient Stone Beast utilized his corrupting hits on me a few times, and I was unexpectedly (well, not actually unexpectedly) teleported away from the fight once, but I continously pulverized the beast with Baptism of Fire and it easily fell.

I went back up to the Casino and spent some time gambling. I now have 424 million gold pieces. I prayed to remove the stunning and made my way back up to Dwarftown. It took two prayers because I mistakenly didn't first increase my status from hungry! to something higher before praying. On the way back up to Dwarftown, I gained another corruption. Fortunately, it is the sulphur exhaling corruption. I invested 200 million in willpower (which is 20 now) and 200 million in toughness (which is 22 now) with Garth. I also used some gold for piety. A postcrowning is out of the question because too many artifacts have been generated for my level. I invested 6.5 million in strength (which is 33 now) (late edit: was that while wearing the orb...?) and 6.5 million in perception (which is 24 now) with Garth. I still have half a million gold pieces left, so I poured it into learning. I sold Long Sting and the run-covered trident that I got from the water elemental to Waldenbrook.

I went to Terinyo and talked to Guth'Alak to start the Unicorn quest. I killed Riurry in melee without any problems. My pack is getting a little too heavy- about 9550 stones. 2000 of those stones were coming from over 400 rocks in my missile slot. 800 of those stones are from Big Punch. After an initial paring down of my inventory, I managed to decrease my encumbrance to 7375 stones. I am stairhopping in the Infinite Dungeon to try to find a blink dog so I can gain teleport control. After many, many hours, I found several blink dogs, but no corpses. None of the blink dogs even summoned their brethren. I found lots of spell books while stairhopping, and found 2 kobold shaman corpses, also.

I led my companion to the Village Dungeon. I finally got some luck. "You command summoner, the blink dog, to slay the rat. Summoner, the blink dog, summons some help!" This is why the Summon Monsters spell is a useful spell. After coercing my companion to summon some help, I aimed my missile past one of the summoned blink dogs some times, and a corpse was finally generated. Hooray, I finally have teleport control! A few of the blink dogs were killed by the summoned monsters, also. Merely healing the blink dogs that were wounded in battle netted me 7 potions of ultra healing from Jharod. I have over 2000 castings of Cure Light Wounds, by the way. I think all of Jharod's potions were all blessed. Because of a potion of education from earlier in the game, I have the Detect Item Status skill. 2 of them were blessed and the statuses of the rest of them weren't revealed by the skill.

I brought SUMMONER (I renamed him so I could see his name easier in the flurry of combat messages) to the same room as Jharod. Somehow SUMMONER was killed by a fire beetle. I was examining every creature's wounds, and was making sure to heal all injuries, then talk to Jharod, but I guess I wasn't fast enough. I was still able to spend quite some time in the room, and at the end of it all, I had amassed 101 potions of ultra healing, 47 of which were blessed and 54 of unknown status. No cursed or uncursed ones, so it's safe to assume that they're all blessed (and I will confirm this at an altar). I did not realize that I had obtained that many of them! It will definitely be enough to last me for the rest of the game.

I went back to Dwarftown and chatted with the dwarven mystic. I received Rolf's Companion. Big Punch is still better, so I'll sell Rolf's Companion. I forgot to give some hatchets I found to Yrrigs while I was in Terinyo. Oh, well, I won't need to use Bridge Building again during the game anyway. I am planning to go to the Mana Temple. I still have my trapped adamantium armor on, so I can't use the Ancient Mummy Wrapping. I plan to gain confusion resistance through a helm of mental stability, death ray resistance through an amulet of death ray resistance, and a light source from a torch. Without the Chaos Orb of Elemental Fire, I will be strained, so I'll cast Lordly Might upon reaching the Mana Temple. It won't hurt to boost my speed a bit. I plan to cast out of my HP most of the time.

On D: 45, there was a vault of red dragons. I decided to skip it. The stairs leading upward were generated on the bottom-left corner of the level. To the right was a tension room full of ghosts. Above were the fire creatures. I first ran away from the fire creatures, utilizing a locked door, then discovered the ghosts and ran away from them using the same method. I found out that dragons can destroy doors. And ghosts can pass through them. I have 2 uncursed fireproof blankets, so I will manage much better than in the greater vault from before. While fighting in the vault, I gained a corruption. My skin is covered in tough scales- +8 PV and -6 dexterity. Very good. I now have to fight Mehederius, the great red wyrm. I destroyed him easily with repeated castings of Nether Bolt and gained 212425 experience points, enough to bring me to level 38. Just before making it to the Unreal Cave System, I gained the mana battery corruption. It doesn't actually hurt me that much, but I drank my potion of cure corruption anyway and lost it. While fighting Nuurag-Vaarn, I gained the poison hands corruption. Luckily, I have thick gauntlets. Nuurag-Vaarn has shrugged off all of my bolts, though.

Hmmm. Maybe if I dip some of my potions of ultra healing in the potion of unholy water that I thankfully have, I can throw those at him and kill him. Nope, they don't hurt him. I should note that I have an uncursed ring of djinni summoning! I think I'll use it later for spellbooks of Rain of Sorrow. Nuurag-Vaarn has probably shrugged off about 2 dozen magic missiles and acid bolts. I'm going to have to use a different method. Magic is futile. I pulled out Big Punch with a malicious grin. Looking into Nuurag-Vaarn's eyes, I saw an abhorrent look of hate directed at me. With a war cry that would have frightened all other than him, I started wildly swinging Big Punch with unbelievable furor. This did the trick, as I was aided by potions of wonder, blindness, and confusion. I was hit several times, but the 1379055 experience points made it worth it. During the entire fight, I didn't have to use any healing whatsoever at all. Nuurag-Vaarn never cast Death Ray or Darkness. The only stat drain that took place was a lowering of my willpower by one. The kill brought me from level 38 to level 40, yielding the activation of my class power- shock immunity. I cleared the rest of the temple, making it to level 41, and gaining an uncursed potion of cure corruption. Ahhh! While returning back through the temple, I gained the mana battery corruption again! I blessed my potion of corruption and drank it, losing that awful corruption.

When I made it to UL: 1, I read a blessed scroll of peace in order to prepare to learn Rain of Sorrow. I used my blessed ring of djinni summoning and wished for spellbooks of Rain of Sorrow. The wish yielded 3 uncursed spellbooks of Rain of Sorrow. I got my spell knowledge to 734 after reading the books. On D: 48, there was a bee hive. On D: 48, I also gained another corruption- the mana battery one. Seriously?? This is the third time in a row! The fire anomaly made the bees that were formerly friendly hostile. I don't have a potion of uselessness, so I can't gain an artifact on D: 49. On D: 50, there was a bee hive. How strange! While fighting on D: 50, I gained a nasty corruption. My muscles have stiffened, making my base energy cost 1500 energy points.

I cleared out the 2 rooms of chaos mutants and writhing masses of primal chaos. Then I soon became surrounded by balors, and have been constantly casting Rain of Sorrow. Killing one balor gave me 900000 experience points. I soon reached level 50. I gained another bad corruption. I rage, decreasing my DV by 9 and increasing my melee damage by 6. I'd be crazy to attempt melee! I also grew horns. It does absolutely nothing- just increasing my melee damage and decreasing my appearance. I have 14 corruptions now. Killing Fistanarius yielded 2431407 experience points. Using brute magic, I killed everything that lie between me and the levers. I pulled them both with little resistance. I now plan to make the long ascent through the Caverns of Chaos.

I talked to Thrundarr to tell him about the defeat of Chaos. "Ye hast succeeded!" he said. "*Grin*" "Me is relieved. May all the gods bless ye. Now go home and enjoy ye rewards -- ye earned them." After leaving the Caverns of Chaos, I went to the beautiful park to get my corruption removed. Then I went to Terinyo to talk with Rynt and Guth'Alak. They also congratulated me and told me to go home to my people. Then I left the chain. The outlook of my further life was very good, thanks to the lack of corruptions. Hooray! My first win!

Body : uncursed trapped adamantium chain mail (-1, -3) [-1, +4] //was [-1, +9] before, but chaos knights damaged it. I was hoping they'd destroy it, but it didn't happen
You could have dipped it in a potion of raw chaos, transforming it and removing it from your body.

Seth Simon, the human druid, saved the world with his brave efforts and
became a great ruler while saving himself 54 times. //what does "saving himself 54 times" mean?
That you saved the game 54 times. If you make a single run from character creation to the endgame, it'll say "without even stopping to save himself".

the crown of science //never even saw this (?)
It's in a hidden room in Darkforge. Since it autocurses and dooms you, it's probably not for everyday use, but the +9 Learning is nice to read books in the wilderness.

the ring of immunity //never even saw this (?)
    Shame, it's an excellent artifact.

It can take several attempts. Most of the time you'll get the junk warning, or rats summoned. Just keep on dropping your items until they glow black. And refrain yourself to dropping low-value ones only, as otherwise the altar's deity will destroy them.

How am I supposed to get a potion of unholy water, anyway?
Reading a cursed scroll of uncursing will curse a single item or stack.

Hmmm. Maybe if I dip some of my potions of ultra healing in the potion of unholy water that I thankfully have, I can throw those at him and kill him. Nope, they don't hurt him.
PoUHs never harm you, they only heal a smaller amount of health.

Great YAVP with an excellently-written story... congratulations, man!

Woah, Casino gold + Garth is amazing. What I couldn't have done with 62 To...

Anyway, great job! It was interesting to hear about your ToEF experience, to say the least. I believe leaving the Tower as soon as possible is vital once your blanket breaks, so that you can leave all destructible items outside. I've never seen a victory post from someone powering through it and succeeding.

Thanks for the explanations and advice, anon123. Talk about forgetting about the obvious! I don't think I even considered potions of exchange or raw chaos to get rid of that trapped armor. The potion of ultra healing fiasco was just a rogue experiment done more in frustration than in anticipation of good results =P

Anyway, great job! It was interesting to hear about your ToEF experience, to say the least. I believe leaving the Tower as soon as possible is vital once your blanket breaks, so that you can leave all destructible items outside. I've never seen a victory post from someone powering through it and succeeding.
Thanks. I lost several pieces of equipment that I was planning to use (potion of sickness, cure corruption, some wands), but I guess the only things I actually needed to kill the Wyrm were Nether Bolt castings and healing, and the other things were just perks.

You spend some time with Skriek, the cloaked ratling, who seems to enjoy your company. The sky is now very clear. The sun burns down on you.
You talk to Skriek, the cloaked ratling.
"Yer alternatives are locked, wisehead!" Skriek, the cloaked ratling, misses you. Skriek, the cloaked ratling, misses you. Skriek, the cloaked ratling punches through your armor and hits you.
