    Default 1st win in a looong time: Dwarven fighter

    ..and first post. Hello everyone!

    I've been playing ADOM on and off for about 10 years now, closed the gate two times (dwarf priest & dwarf weaponsmith I think) within the first year, then never again (on account of me being not very careful at times).

    I've never felt like boasting about my wins on forum or Hall of Fame.

    Since picking up ADOM again a short while ago I've played 30 characters.
    Most of them random, and so was Hobble, the random dwarven fighter, random Starsign Raven (my favorite for fighting classes because I love RCT), my first (of 2) wins since then.

    Hobble entered the Drakalor chain without knowing how to read or write, but with an intensive desire to bash some orcish heads in (and maybe stop cHaOs in the process).
    She went to save a mad carpenter after really shortly popping into a small cave, learned from Jharod, exited just in time to search for and kill a raider lord that had been terrorizing the area (took about 10 days).
    He then explored an unremarkable dungeon and converted a chaotic altar using the bounty money to achieve very close standing with Morodwyn.
    There she found a crystal tower shield to use with her orcish spear (it's named that way because it slays orcs, in case you didn't know).
    Upon arriving at a High Mountain Village, a stone giant lord was guarding it, so Hobble swam (drowned) his way inside, sold stuff to the shop and found he was carrying around a valuable two-handed sword of mayhem (this should also be good for slaying orcs).
    After finishing business Hobble went on to find his cousins city in the central mountains and ate some dark sage corpse on the way.
    The elder there liked Hobble but obviously didn't hold her skill in high regard, as he asked Hobble to prove her valor by slaying a rat.
    So she did and did some other quests Thrundarr offered (ventured through DH after monster detect).
    On the way back up a chaos lizard dissolved Hobble's sword of mayhem ... back to using the orc-slaying spear it is!
    On the way back to Terinyo she chatted with an old barbarian who wants Hobble to slay 20 hobgoblins (probably just associated them with her name, should've called herself Rattle).
    Back in Terinyo Hobble killed a crime lord and his bouncers (with wands) and visited a Puppy cave (that tiny girl sure has high hopes after such a long time). After getting an invitation Hobble visited a Pyramid and tried the wand from Thrundarr on a mummy lord (works like a charm).
    With her new mummy wrapping Hobble defeated Li-Hon-Kai, got crowned in Dwarftown (=Acid, Protector) and got Big Punch as a reward or sacrificing a greater daemon, which was nice because with all the protection Hobble wasn't dishing out much damage until then.
    Thus equipped Hobble killed an evil necromancer and freed the spirit of a dwarven berserker, fetched the ring of the High Kings and visited Darkforge (which had a chaotic altar on the level above -> converted to L with gold from baby dragon tension room on same level). Found there a dagger of death, which did almost the same damage as Big Punch (but weighed ca. 800s less).
    Darkforge had some pools and Hobble was thirsty after fighting all those fire-breathing golems (1 pool: -Fire, +Tele, +SeeInvis, +Invis, +TeleContr, stopped there, still no pool drained).
    Hobble trained fighting daggers on the rest of the golems (Daggers 1 -> 7).
    Back in Dwarftown the town mystic who had trapped himself inside a column with his last teleport scroll gave Hobble an ancient dwarven axe for visiting him, which Hobble honored and used until she left the Drakalor chain, only swapping in a phase dagger at times).
    With her new axe, a ring of Ice, a ring of regeneration and 8 arrows of dragon slyaing Hobble went to the burning tower, returned victorious and brought some dragon steak to a druid. Then Hobble chatted with a greater water dragon whilst holding his breath (3 turns: teleport, chat (trying at least while lungs fill with water), teleport).
    Hobble got impatient and let an old sage die who refused to leave the stairs and shortly thereafter in a graveyard was delivered a rune-covered trident for being nice).
    Hobble found a wand of destruction in the water temple, a fine leather armor (Nature's Companion) in the care of Suthyk, the cyclops (D:28) and seven league boots and a phase dagger in a big gift shoppe (no artifacts though).
    While identifying stuff Hobble noticed a ring of djinni summonig in her pack but already had everything she wanted...
    From there on it was a straight dive, a cat lord gave Hobble a cursed ring (seems it does sometimes pay to be nice).
    As deeper as she went the more deserted shops she found (5 all in all), but after clearing out the first one she didn't have the courage for the rest).
    Hobble got quite a bit corrupted that deep in the caverns and while browsing through some bookstore the shopkeeper got angry (said Hobble would scare his other (imaginary) customers away), so Hobble fled (reading is for pussies anyway).
    The fight with the archmage was the hardest one she could remember, because he kept hitting her even while blinded by potions and staggering).
    On an icy cavern Morodwyn rewarded Hobble for throwing a potion at the wall (Ironfist), but then she switched to some winged quarrels (6 of them were enough for the whole way!).
    On D:50 there was another deserted shop (apparently balors, ghost lords and chaos warriors aren't the best customers).
    Hobble had problems against the chaos warriors, so she summoned a friend (greater earth elemental) to deal with them, handled the levers and destroyed them (wand of destruction), got out of there, read the remaining scrolls of chaos resistance and wished for two more from the djinni in a ring she kept until now and returned home.

    She completely forgot about that old barbarian who still waits for her return.
