Default Hey guys! What Should I wish for?

    Hello!

So, I'm playing A Dwarven Beastfighter. And he is in a little bit of a pickle!

    First off: No teleportation control.
Second: No Scrolls of Chaos Resistance, cause I didn't save the sage or go into either of the secret rooms.
    Third: Mana Battery! :/

BUT: I do have two wishes! Should I wish for Scrolls of Chaos Resistance? I'm a little low on water, but just made it to the Casino so that should be fixed soon.

I never know what to wish for! I know normally you guys say Spellbooks of Acid Ball, but this guy can't cast spells, and Seven League Boots, but it turns out one of my class powers already makes me run faster!

    Thanks everyone!

Maybe a bit more detailed view of your character and your situation might be in order.

I'd check the Casino first before you do anything else. Maybe you can find an amulet of teleport control or something else useful there. Don't pick up wands otherwise you will end up in large amounts of debt. If you happen to see a glowing wand, wish for SoCRs and purge mana battery right away.

Acid ball is only a good wish for casters. Useless to you in this situation. 7lbs are of limited use thanks to your natural speed.

Girdle of giant strength is a good wish for a beastie. I can't say more without seeing your gear. Using one with for emergency SoCRs is not a terrible idea.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

In my opinion you should go to BUGWIL and wish for a banshee. That will give you all of the following, for just one wish:

3 x scroll of chaos resistance
6 x potion of ultra healing
8 x scroll of magic mapping
12 x winged quarrel of slaying
    12 x crystal of health
wand of teleportation (6 charges) (make sure to bless & read the scrolls before picking it up)
    wand of fireballs (10 charges)

Of course you need some precautions. Make sure you have:

    - bee wax
    - a pile of blessed spenseweed
    - a few wands of door creation (you will need to wrench the last charge of each)
    - a key set (or lockpick)
    - the best two shields you can get your hands on (you will not be fighting anything)

I made a video that shows how to do this, see my signature. Basically, you need to equip the shields and the spenseweed, use coward tactics, use the wax and make the wish. Carefully make your way to the entrance. Try to shut off as many of the side branches with killer bugs as you can by creating doors. The less killer bugs you have to deal with, the better.

Be warned that the banshee will become very strong if you do this. Use your spenseweed to stay near full health at any time. And don't try to kill her when you're finished, just lock her away.
You steal a scroll labelled HITME. The orc hits you.

If you have a shred of honor in you you should stop reading right there. Just wish for SoCR. It's good enough.

Says the guy who would kill any remotely dangerous monster with slaying ammo when playing an overpowered barbarian and call that smart. But if someone else comes up with any sort of effective strategy you call it dishonourable? What is dishonourable about it?

It consumes a wish. It takes skill to pull off. A wizard could clear the place with ball spells, I guess that is fine in your books?

Clearing BUGWIL with a banshee is scummy, scummy, scummy.

With mana battery, I'd wish for SoCR's. I think a wish for SoCR's is never a wasted wish.

Next thing killing monsters will be scummy too.

Of course wishing for SoCR is more easy and does the job. I just wanted to point out this option - this is one of the rare situations where it is worth considering.

Seriously, Al-Khwarizmi, I would like to know why you would call this scummy. It is not grinding. It is not risk free, either. You need a reasonably strong character to survive it. A level 20+ beastfighter who made it past the ToEF can make it, especially because they get a speed bonus and it helps to be fast. That's why I advised it to Lasher.

It is not free, it costs a wish. The rewards are good, but not game breaking. The rewards are comparable to what you get for saving Khelly, really. And again: a wizard of the same level doesn't even need a wish to get those rewards. He gets it all for free. Tell me, is acid balling the bug cave with a level 20+ caster scummy?

Is it because you feel it was not the intention that people would do this? But then why is it allowed to wish for a banshee at all? Using a banshee to kill dangerous monsters is the obvious thing to do. And the creator of the game clearly considered that possibility. Many boss monsters are immune to the banshee wail.

I thought putting in a smiley face would make the intent properly non-serious

I suspect that wishing for a banshee is possible because the Creator enjoyed the thought of players accidentally killing themselves with such a wish, and less that of players using her to bypass dangerous game locations altogether, but that's neither here nor there.

Slaying ammunition does nothing more and nothing less than what it's supposed to to - slay. I guess you could make a case for its being too objectively powerful, but you do have to at least get a clear line to an enemy and get it to stick. If you manage to miss with all of it, you still have some work to do.

The most important point, though, is that wishing for a banshee drags a tortured soul kicking and screaming out of the afterlife, merely to fulfill your materialistic greed. And what could be more dishonorable than such an atrocity? (I never called it stupid, you should note)
