No phase daggers so far, besides - I play as wizard and would like to blast them away with magick.
Magic is strongly recommended. There is considerable risk doing this in melee, because there are just too damn many of them. I don't believe that they're particularly good at shrugging bolts, so pretty much every magic missile should connect. Throw on any willpower or mana boosting items you have. My personal recommendation would be to build an ice bridge into the middle of the river in the barbarian glade, then freeze it away so they can't follow. It's wide enough that you should be able to build a bit of a connected bridge to move around a little. Use farsight for effective targeting. As for damage... it will take awhile to clear them all. A single GM should probably drop in (guessing a bit here) maybe 10 consecutive bolts. Have prayers ready for extra PP or HPcast a lot and use healing items. Acid ball will work on GMs too, but you'll want at least range 2 because you don't want them next to you.
The level scaling of monsters for being at high level isn't too bad. It isn't uniformly applied, and the effect isn't that severe. I've fought some of the bosses at quite high level and haven't really noticed it. The biggest offender is probably Keethrax, actually, simply because you usually fight him at such low level that if you decide to fight him at level 50, it is a bit surprising to find that he has 300+ HP and 150 speed. He isn't, of course, actually a threat to a level 50 PC... he just won't drop in 1 hit like you'd expect.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.
