I used a ring of invisibility and attacked him with magic missiles (no wand but the spell) from a distance. He directly came towards me, followed me into the corridor and attacked me. During the fight he used several bolt spells against me, even when there was a monster between us, so I guess that he somehow saw me. Maybe it could have been a problem that my first magic missle bounced and also hit myself? Don't know, for this was the first time I even reached the AKW.
The casino guy once killed a very promising barbarian of mine, so I thought I'd rather not mess with him ;-)

btw. I play the prerelease 1 version that tells you about the donation after you start it.

I know... I downloaded it, eventually the game crashed and since there was no .prc file to be seen and deleted, I'm no more able to start it. Would be great if anyone had a hint for me to solve that problem, too ;-)

Have you checked ../in Documents and Settings/[username]/Local Settings/Application Data/ADOM/adom_dat?

I had the same problem (No .prc file in adom_dat), had to delete the entire ADOM folder. I then reinstalled and ADOM worked fine.

Hmmm, anybody knows the direction with German windows?
Tried to delete the whole folder, but that didn't help... maybe because I didn't delete the older version?

Try this directory: %USERPROFILE%\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\ADOM\adom_dat

(The garbage before userprofile is a percent sign)

If you delete the adom.prc file there, the game should work again unless you've defined the ADOM_HOME environment variable. In that case, you have to delete the file in the directory you specified.

Congrats on the win, by the way - good story, which is in my opinion the most important thing in a YAVP
