I did not check the date, I just clicked on the link in the stickied thread by TB, read it and wondered why Mist elves was chosen and afterwards realized that it is fine if some of them decided to be lawful.

My concern is still valid though as the story regarding the quests should probably explain why these mist elves are lawful.

I agree with all these ideas. I have finally done the whole rift, library (first spell book I got was teleportation so I was lucky) with all but 2 spellbooks but I survived with WISH. Did the Toef really late so it ended up being super easy (9 high level iceballs). Got the puppy, saved the bridgemaker. Did SMC (supermariocave-lol). Linked both darkforge and high mountain village. Successfully read WISH! Got good resists and a few wishes got rid of bad things and regained my youth and also got fully corruption free each time it was required. Saved Khelevaster found casino and played like a maniac until I became stunned for a whopping 586 turns. I am now level 33 after 127 days. I am not strong enough to actually finish yet although I got all orbs except mana. I cant cast wish 328 pp 217 hp so obviously dead under any circumstances. I would like to see some extra quests at this stage other than the ones that already exist.

Also another mist elf quest thing if mist elves (players) are NOT lawful the elf superior will act like they don't know you or something.
And if the mist elf player is chaotic then it is a possibility (even higher if you talk to the superior) that the mist elves will attack you.
In the case of lawful or neutral creatures talking to the vapor ratling will corrupt you a certain amount of corruptions.
Same as ratlings lawful ratlings stand a chance of having the other ratlings in the village attack them, but neutral or chaotics are fine.

And in other cases (different races) the neutral/lawful/chaotic thing could be enforced too.
Like neutral can't yet talk to the mist elf. Lawful can't talk to ratling. Chaotics are automatically attacked in the mist elf village. Lawfuls are automatically attacked in the ratlings village.
So the original stairs should be located in the big room with the vapor ratling and the potentially hostile other creatures. That way the player can look at their alignment and choose which one to go for.
Up the stairs for the mist elf village or down the stairs for ratling village. But neutrals can choose either or both but not both quests unless they choose to mediate the two sides and gain peace for their village. Maybe the negotiations could come to the ratlings and mist elves realizing that the influence of the evil vapor ratling is causing strife and the ratlings give a quest to kill it. You would have to talk to the mist elves first then the ratlings and then some side quests from both to try and figure out why the strife exists. maybe you would also have to talk to the vapor ratling (as a neutral you would receive corruptions) eventually it could play out in a favorable conclusion.
