Default Is Mimic Hivemind meant to be summoners?

From their Monster Memory it almost sounds as if Mimic Hiveminds is meant to be able to summon other lesser mimics:

    Thoughts?

I noticed the same in the past. I thought maybe they only summon sporadically and I never gave them a chance to do it, because when you face one of these guys, it's either equip a source of -Para and kill immediately, or run away.

My opinion: not all rumors have to be true

Well, I usually kill them with missiles while keeping a distance. This usually takes many turns, 30+, and I've never seen them summon.

It is quite a scary thought though, ah nice potion. Oh dear, surrounded by master mimics the next turn.

They are marked as summoners in GB and on wiki (from GB I guess). i was always skeptical about that but keep forgetting to test it.
I like my women like my ADOM loot - hunted as treasure and in extra quantity.
