Killer bugs ignore Shields?

Does this mean the DV from shields are ignored?

Did you reach maximum shield mastery (equal to DV of wielded shield)?

No, I've blocked claw bugs, greater claw bugs and killer bugs before.

What was your shield skill at? From what I remember, greater claw bugs and killer bugs have a really, really good to-hit chance - that's why meleeing them is so risky (especially killer bugs, which are aptly named).

Crystal tower shield, dv 13. Skill level 10.
Going on defensive mode, and got lots of misses. a bunch of hits too - dv was at 115 or so.
Is there an amount of DV that no longer helps, like how a 20 is always a hit in DnD?

Might be funny if I was too defensive to gain shield skills in there, because it was either a crit or a miss.
