Ah yes, it didn't register to me that his PC was a mindcrafter. That part about the TCtrl was unnecessary.

The snake corpse is good for one PoCC assuming you have a holy water or two to maintain the wilderness trek to Guth'Alak, and since humans have Food Preservation you probably will only need one. The PoCC could be good enough to remove the top one, and if that's mana battery, you could booze-teleport with your wand to snag the ?oCR from the HMV, or better yet, try your luck with the Dwarven Mystic given that you're neutral.

It's just that trying to pickpocket a wand/scroll of teleportation in the ID sounds incredibly tedious. I try to avoid doing stuff like that

If i'm being honest, I'd probably drain all 9 darkforge pools looking for teleportitis before trying to pickpocket a specific subset of items. It's a pity your initial corruptions were two very annoying ones, but that's pretty early to have 2 corruptions. I usually get my first from background corruption when I'm below the casino. .... did you ... did you eat the snake corpse...? It seems you picked up Unholy Aura while you were clearing stuff like GY and Pyramid, which is strange to me because you'd largely have spent time in non-corrupting areas up to then.

Ha no I didn't eat the snake - I tend to play too slowly in general, and doubly so for this char as it was the first I'd got beyond Dwarftown since I started playing after many years away. It was around 90 days in by the time I died. Most of the corruption was from background in the DH and CoC (down to the wall of flames) since I tend to explore everywhere. I must have got Unholy Aura after returning to the CoC, I definitely didn't cross town with it.

I guess you're right about the corpse (Mana Battery was indeed the top corruption) but other corpses I'd picked up rotted away in about 5 turns so I didn't rate my chances much, and expected to be turned on by the dwarves when I started scaring them.

BTW had another funny death yesterday, and learned why not to do anything in the Wilderness: Mist Elf wizard, visited Terinyo to read books and get quests, popped over the the SMC and thought "oh, I forgot to check my equipment, I'll just see what I've got". Aha! 2 rings of mental stability - there's a nice PV+2 bonus. A mist elf wouldn't start with iron stuff would they? I'll just pop them on... Ah.
    Gate closers: L+ DE Mindcrafter (p20), N= Gnomish Assasin (p20), N= Gnomish Mindcrafter (p23), N= Ratling Ranger (R49)

Iron rings are a-okay for mist elves, as long as you only equip one.
    "And light there be!"
