Boring parts that can happen in every game: hunting for a ring of ice, not having ice for the pirahna lake, trying to find a rare monster for Thrundar.

I would very much like to see a quest that requires the "deserted attributes" Charisma and Appearance. Maybe it could only be availible if the char is able to infatuate the quest giver (only possible at a minimum value of CH or AP). Maybe a wedding ring could play an important role is such a quest... romance <3

totally agree with silfir's post above. adom is, after all, at heart a dungeon crawling game.
Playing since gamma 10, when necklaces looked like &s. Lithium man. Brass + Lithium. OCG. Illiterate barb. One race and one class to go.

One quest idea and a few thoughts on how to tackle the ToEF and AoLS issues so many people fret about.

    1) Let Khelavaster live x number of days longer after talking to him for deeper access to CoC. Could be a fixed date?

    2) Move 'The wall of flames' somewhere below the Casino. Allows more levels to explore, and the Gift shop.

Limits to gambling would be needed. After x amount of winnings, the big bouncer taps on your shoulder.. 'Sir/Madam, have you visited our fabulous gift shop yet? It is a *must* thing to do for such a distinguished gentleman/lady as yourself..' Have to spend until under 10k gold left (including what gold you brought in to the casino!) or make the place hostile. Then warned off for gambling there for an x amount of days (to allow the player to get the very expensive stuff if so desired later, which would be about the same time Casino is accessed at the current version). The win-limit would now be as high as the most expensive thing in the shop.

    3) The CoC has always felt a bit small to me. Additional random levels to make it deeper/wider after Dwarftown, allows also (a bit boring) places for the new quest(s).

    4) For the players obsessed about saving Khelavaster clutching at straws: a quest 'A deal with the cHAoS DjiNN'. Maybe in a sidebranch of the gremlin cave (I don't want the main map to feel too cluttered, also a no for a new settlement west of the river). It would be a silent quest (no-one giving it to you) and have a cHAoS theme? Every random (cavernous?) level having a tension room of chaos monsters and randomly scattered pools and little 1 tile width streams of purple water (swimming corrupts).

At the end there would be an abandoned shop named 'An ordinary ring shop'. A couple of brass rings and one purple artifact ordinary ring. This would be the end, but could even be the start of the quest, although I have no good ideas what the chaos djinn could want the character to do in addition to freeing it (15 ! of raw chaos? Via the ancient scythe). Repeated visits to the gremlin cave are not so much fun..

Reward: A wish. Additional reward: 15 or so corruptions (it throws the potions you just gave it at you?). Ideally, after reading the scrolls from Khelly the character would have 2-3 corruptions left. Alternatively, lose half St (melee'ers) or half Ma (casters) + 1 corruption. A guaranteed wish does not come cheap.. The brass rings could end up giving you something really nice too, so the shop can not have many of them.

Slaying the djinn instead of accepting the wish would give good xp for the level-uppers before the ToEF. And drop a blanket (plain). Vulnerable to poison perhaps, and magic missile.

I'm really opposed to having a guaranteed wish or AoLS, personally. But if people are really insistent on it, my suggestion would be to implement it, but eliminate the rewards from saving Khelly entirely. Saving him is a necessary step to doing your ultra, and there's a quest for it, but that huge pile of SoCR and other magical items are not necessary. Maybe distributing these to other new quests might be better.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

I'm totally with you in this point. I really like the fact that you cannot do everything in every run and I'd love to keep it like this.

If Khelly gives no rewards I'll just let him die without a second thought and not bother with the wish/AoLS. I prefer the present situation to that.

You'd still need him for an ultra, so it's very likely that he would still be saved quite some times.

I think any suggestions involving pre-crowning or saving Khelly are inherently misguided and definitely take Silfir's view on this. In addition to what Silfir has said, I think a very important focus of the quests should be fun - reward-wise. Doing things like giving people a wish or AOLS at the end of a quest isn't fun - it just makes it into another location you visit so you can save Khelly / do the tower in peace / etc. and kind of defeats the whole point. Of course, I don't really know what could make the rewards fun (I mean, random artifacts are fun but that's kind of a gimme) so I leave that up to others.

Right before the TOEF is definitely a dead spot, but there's also a few dead spots after the TOEF where you're just clearing temples and stuff, and I'd really like to see some cool stuff in the post-Casino, pre-Unreal Caves slog.
