Merchants and Great Gear

Is there some known tendency for Merchants to find better stuff than other classes? It seems to happen with me alot, especially weapons. For example, I found a quarterstaff of mayhem on level 1 of the SMC, died a few levels later, then my next merchant immediately found an eternium-shod quarterstaff in the same place.

Actually, this is something unusual about SMC.

There are occasionally very good weapons lying on the floor of the SMC. You can find eternium two-handers there on rare occasions, for example.

Ah, ok thanks. I usually play mindcrafters, farmers, or assassins, so I'm not on the lookout for weapons when I go there.

I had the same feel about farmer; i started an orc farmer and at lvl 18 i had already aquired preserver, serpent's bite and bracers of war. If I remember correctly I found amulet at shop, dagger from surge of power and bow was a random drop in UD. Sometimes we just get enormously lucky!
