Default Vanquisher vs Staff of the Wanderer vs Executor

Hello all! Been a while, but I decided to try ADOM again and am really liking the new additions!

After lots of rage-induced deaths, I'm working with a female Mist Elf Elementalist who seems to be doing pretty well, at level 22!

She's currently at the Casino, but due to excellent kitty karma, has managed to obtain the Ring of the Master Cat (my first time ever!). However...

Around level 11, she was precrowned with Vanquisher. Woohoo!. So she went around mashing everything and getting two-handed weapons up, but carefully, due to her low hp.

Then, she was crowned with the Staff of the Wanderer. So far, I've been alternating between using the two - the Staff of the Wanderer has been useful in keeping her toughness generally okay with good DV, (ACW was mashed up using Frost Bolt) and Vanquisher's slaying abilities have come in useful when required. Both are now level 8.

Now she's at the Casino, and Executor is in the shop. Granted, as I have been using two-handed weapons (Vanquisher and Staff of the Wanderer), my shield level sucks. It's still at 0. But... Executor! Executor is awesome! If I switch to using Vanquisher, my hp drops and my DV is down. Staff of the Wanderer is pretty sturdy DV and To-wise but no slaying capabilities. Executor would give me slaying and shield DV but I'd have to start from scratch with training marks up.

I'll probably buy Executor anyway, but what do you think I should do with it?

Use Executor, it is the best 1H weapon in the game and outclasses Vanquisher handily. Don't worry about training, it will train fast.

I agree with SirTheta. Keep Vanquisher as a backup in case you want to kill some dragons or something.

You should be able to find a decent shield in the Casino anyway if you don't have one.
Hoping to win with every class, doomed. Archer, Barbarian, Bard, Beastfighter, Druid, Elementalist, Farmer, Fighter, Monk, and ULE Priest down.

Stand in spider factories on Very Aggressive tactics with a good shield equipped and you'll get those shield levels soon enough. Tarantulas give 32 marks each.

Seems pretty unanimous then! Just need to be able to carry 5.5 million gold to the shop so I can buy it! Also found a ring of djinni summoning in the Casino shop.

Grey, you forgot the most important part - this only works if you do NOT have poison resistance. You forgot the spoiler tag too, you soriana-baiter.

If I were you, I'd visit
    and refrain from meleeing.

EDIT: Wait, I'm silly, it's not the staff of creation. Executor then of course, big V kinda sucks. If you want a real man's twohander, get the

I like my women like my ADOM loot - hunted as treasure and in extra quantity.

I did go a bit melee happy when I got Vanquisher I am spellcasting a lot, books haven't been forthcoming though and a trip to the Library is planned once I get 100 in Climbing.

I just picked up Thunderstroke in a lesser blue dragon vault that was just under the Casino - very artifact happy so far, particularly now that Thunderstroke returns when fired!
