I think it is supposed to be RSDM, which is red dragon scale mail.

or a plural form of ring of djinni summoning. Perhaps case is important? RoDSs which, when omitting the o, becomes RDSs?

Nothing to be sorry about. Thanks for clarifying, though.

I assume it was GKWs that were summoned, which are scary enough en masse. Personally I wouldn't take out an undead vault without spells - with spells it's no so bad. I once took one out with mostly missiles, which wasn't so bad over all, but it did take bloody forever.

Oh yeah, that was it, RDSM, red dragon scale mail. A gazillion thanks. Someone had mentioned that it gave you loads of help in the ToEF, but my mind was stuck on R = ring , so I kept thinking about rings of elemental mastery...

You were maybe thinking of the uber trendy Rings of SaDo Masochism, aka Rings of Doom, for all your bondage needs?

Just dealt with a vault one floor down from the Darkforge shortcut.

I believe I had killed ~8 emperor liches and a 3-4 Lich Kings and picked up 2 artifacts so far when I got a crash. Initial item detect showed 2 grey weapons and I hadn't picked up a grey weapon yet (Ironfist and Scorched spear were the two that were dropped) so likely 2 more artifacts were remaining. Latest backup was quite a while ago, way before I found the vault =(.

People seem afraid of vaults like that, but clearing stuff like that is pretty fun. Dangerous, yes, but that's part of what makes it fun.

I had a pretty rough time until I realized that alarm trap type was only 4 squares from the opening I was using as a funnel point. I used magic missile until the right square was open to teleport to, zapped my wand of trap creation twice, and teleported back. That really helped thin the crowds a bit. Nothing like seeing Liches fight each other, or downright destroy some of the Kobolds and junk that they summon on the weak summons. One of them summoned some white worms, so that helped also, they'd multiply and fill in the spots to keep the Moloch, Beserker Emperor and Doppleganger King summons to a minimum.

I mean sure you get some stat drians, but whatever, it's fun. Probably helped that the casino was nice enough to provide a bunch of humanoid slaying ammo and Executor. Didn't have so much undead slaying, but humanoid slaying weapon makes this kind of Vault an experience bonanza.

I went from 26 to 32 in no time. I generally measure experience at that point in terms of levels per corruption, and that was all done in <1 corruption. Seems like the usual pace is about 1-2 levels per corruption for me (barring special cases like Cat Lord or temple guardians.)

Though it scared me pantsless when I first discovered it, I found
a Greater Moloch threat room on about D:44-ish. However, it
soon clicked in my mind that I was a Thief, with a penetrating
dagger, with 174 speed. Suffice to say, the last 16 levels
were quickly gained 440,000 exp each kill (barring the little
    decreases from killing so many).

I descended into the 2nd level of the blue dragon caverns. What I saw right next to the stairs was a party of at least 25 balors. If I didn't have on-demand teleportation, the situation could've been a bit tricky...
