    Default Mindy 7th, Gray Elf Mindcrafter

    WOOOO finally did it! I sorta cheated a little bit though. Having played a shitload of mindcrafters all starting the same way, visiting the same dungeons in the same order and doing the carpenter quest first I rolled up a GE Mindcrafter with stats that didn't stuck (To6? Sod off!), did the quest, saved it, then kept the file so I didn't have to keep doing the same damn quest over and over again. With a mindcrafter it's fairly easy as long as you're careful, but careful is soooo boring. Hence Mindy the 7th as 6 other distant relatives all called Mindy died before her following a similar path.

    No decent weapons until the CoC so I leveled up staves a lot and got quite a good DV bonus out of it. So good infact I didn't swap to a shield until I found a +3 +3 shield as the loss of DV not using a stave was too great. Best armour for a long while was +3 sandles I started with and an amulet of protect +2. Then somewhere in the PC vault and 2 lesser vaults above dwarf town I got 7lbs and a RoGS! I tend to get these items on D50 not D5. Having got these items I was fairly determined not to loose this character to any stupid mistakes like her forebearers. Got really good at launching rocks as I couldn't find other ammo.

    Dwarf quests were easy. A ring shop just below dwarf town gave me a RoRengeration and of Invisibility which made skipping across the Halls a lot less tense, though my heart skipped a beat when I opened up a tention room of Diamond Golems, but luckily with Invis and high stealth only 1 wondered out of the room and I managed to ignore it. Got a surge of power in DH2 - BoW! And a doppleganger king next to the down stairs, and a tention room full of DE wizards who promptly filled 2/3 of the level with spiders. The shop also gave me another RoF so I could go visit the momma water dragon.

    The UD was fairly uneventful, the lesser vaults gave me some mithril armour, a crystal shield and an adamantium sabre of devastation, which I used for most of the mid game. This, with BoW set me up for most the game, upgrading to WDSM and an eternium shield when they presented themselves. Got naff all herbs all game. Only 2 patches in total stablized.

    Had to scum for a wand of cold to get the RoTHK. When I got the bottom level the skeleton king was already out of his room and was easily taken out with the RCT.

    The Ice Queen again provided lots of pre-ToEF experience. Got plenty of decent loot. A found Ring of Fire protected all my. Gained about 3 levels I think. Loads of stat increases. The greater vault of fire dragons. I cleared the outside for experience but left the central box containing the ancient dragons and wyrms. I cleared the frost giant vault with a load of mindcraft. Even with my sabre of devastation anything more than a standard frost giant was too much, but roasting their brains through the walls of the vault made things a lot easier. I eventually went back to the greater vault at a higher level having done the other IQ quests and getting to lvl 25 and blasted the dragons and wyrms through the vault walls. They eventually found the secret door out but by that time there were only 15 or so dragons left and i just ran in circles mindcrafting them to death, nipping back down a level to regenerate PPs, to going back and blasting some more. Took a while but well worth it for the experience and loot. Got a WoW with 5 charges, Vanquisher, Whirlwind and Sun's Messenger. Got crowned eventually, got the Robes which was cool. Despite having the mummy wrapping AND a crown of ice I forgot to wear either when praying and got given damn cold immunity! Sad times

    Did the rift, nice and easy, got the weird tome, got the water orb (I really hate the SFB, the temple isn't so bad, but I've lost plenty of characters to acute poisoning from it), did the ToEF, mainly cleared with the RCT. Did the Maze. Had a few scrolls of MM but only a few wand charges and not much booze so it was mainly done the hard way, with a diagram and lots of notes. I figured taking a -8 Wi hit would be well worth the St and To increases so I ate the Emperors corpse. Used a wish for PoWi to top up what the PoGAs didn't recover. Had plenty of scrolls and potion to remove corruption. Never used the axe though.

    After this the rest of the game was a cakewalk. I could have opened up ring shops, scroll shops and book shops by myself with all the extra loot I found. Loads of amulets, including another 2 AoLS, but only just found my 1 amulet of light just before the mana temple. Everything had the RCT thrown at it, was Vanquished or GTBed. The casino has the Ring of Immunity which I bought with dragon gold. Spent the entire game confusing cats and putting them in locked rooms so I got the cat ring. All Summoner died in his little room to GTB. I GTBed all the chaos wizards and all the eyes in the mana temple then GTBed Nuurgy behiond his meatshields. The earth temple was cleared with Vanquisher. Another fire dragon greater vault. Cleared the outside with a sword, melted the brains of the occupants of the central room before finishing them off with GTB. Got Shirt of the Saints. Maybe Wyrmlance? Meh. Being able to clear 2 greater vaults (21 wyrms) meant I was lvl50 before I reached D50. No potion of uselessness! Used a wish to reverse unnatural aging. Killed the black unicorn. Left the Chain!

    Mindcrafters suck early on. You struggle until you get good gear and then you're really only as good as the sword in your hand and the armour on your chest.
    The wand you start off with can be a total life-saver and sucks so much when you start off with a wand of light of something like that.
    Being L for as long as possible, and crowning L+ just laughs in the face of corruption. The character was very attractive though too, (Ap30 with corruptions) so that probably helped.
    I love the IQD. You've got 3 exp levels there before you hit the ToEF with those stat bonus rewards, a lesser and a greater vault with all the XPs and loot.
    The mindcrafter class powers that increase your PP pool gives you so much you can forget about walking anywhere (infinte teleport) or lifting a finger to fight (just GTB everything) no matter the PP cost.
    GTB *IS* insane. It's practically cheating. It's not as strong as I thought it might be, having only dice number as a base damage, and quite a high cost but with the class powers pumping up your PP pool it doesn't matter. Goodbye greater red wyrms. Emperor Liches were safely crushed from way behind their meatshields. Boss monsters smushed from afar. With GTB and the RCT I don't think I lost a single stat point to drainers, just a bit of aging from D50 Ghost Lords.
    Having teleport at lvl 40 is waste. I used it to save my RL time by the end.
    Couldn't read a single damn book, stupid wands and potions of wonder kept topping up the same few spells. Got wish though! Yay.
    Mindcrafter's skill rolls suck. By the time you get to lvl 17/18 or whatever you're increasing skills by d3 or a point, or investing in skills like haggling. This really does suck.
